Q: Sex During My Period

I have been on the pill since 2001. I never missed a pill. But for the first time, my husband and I had unprotected sex while I was on my period. It was a Saturday and I haven't had the inactive pills for the whole week; I was going to start the active pills the very next day. What is the risk of pregnancy? I am freaking out. Sad

There is no need to freak out... You are as protected during the placebo week as you are during active days.

eiri is right.the placebo pill is just like taking a sugar pill,its basically to keep you on a schedule.

You did not have unprotected sex!

You're taking birth control properly so you are protected every single day of your cycle - unless you miss an active pill or take medications that reduce the effectiveness of your birth control.

Relax and enjoy yourself! That's why you're on birth control. Smile
