My husband of 3 years (and boyfriend/fiance of 5 years) has just been diagnosed with chlamydia.
I know that he has been faithful, that is not even a question. (he is also a really bad liar so I would know if he wasn't faithful)
anyway, how did this happen? can the STD lie dormant for 8 years?????? He did have tesicular cancer in the past, what are the chances that it is a false positive??
I have such a wonderful marriage, we are unbelievebly happy, and this is such a strange finding to both of us. Please help.

Do you mean chlamydia?

Many people with chlamydia have no symptoms. So it is possible that he would not even know he had it.

I have heard that chlamydia may lie dormant in a person for many years, then flare up when a person gets sick or has cancer.

Make sure you get tested and treated as soon as possible since chlamydia can cause serious permanent damage to women if left untreated.

You can check out this site for more information on chlamydia. http://www.cdc.gov/std/Chlamydia/STDFact-C hlamydia.htm

Thank you Llewellyn for your response. I really appreciate your help. I also really would like just a few other points of view as well. I really like the idea that Chlamydia can lie dormant in someone for years (in this case, 8 years) but I would also really like to know if that is truly the case. If not, I need to know, because then that means my husband slept with someone else. Thank you so much for your help.
so, the question is - can Chlamydia lie dormant in someone for 8 years?

I am really not sure. I have heard that chlamydia may lie dormant, but I am not even sure enough about the credibility of those sources to swear by it. And if it is true, I have no idea how long it is capable of lying dormant for.

So my advice would be to call your doctor, ob-gyn, local Family Planning, STD clinic, or Planned Parenthood. Someone there would probably be able to tell you more about it than we could.

Chlamydia
I tested positive for chlamydia as well and my bf came back negative. We broke up bc he assumed I was unfaithful. I wasnt. I told him that the test is so much more likely to come back negative for men because the crappy tests most places use are very dependent on the urine. If he had went pee within a few hours of the test and then peed again. It can really throw the test and make him seem healthy.
