Is it for a girl or a boy. Anyone of the regular sounding names, like Marie or Lee for a girl or James..or Scott for a boy would go. Addison seems to be pretty versitile.

I think addison parker would get confused as a boys name... its another one of those boys names that has become unisex because girls started using it.My cousin is Jacob Addison. also i dont know if a names meaning actually is important to you or not Question but addison means SON** of adam.

I think the popularity of the similar sounding girls name Madison plus the recognition brought by the female doctor on Grey's Anatomy combine to put Addison squarely in the Girls corner.

I like Addison because it goes well with both contemporary and traditional names. Of the ones you've listed, I like Addison Grace or Addison Nicole.

By the way, if you like playing around with first and middle names, babynamewar.com is kind of fun.

Madison is a male given name. According to the Social Security Administration, Madison can be found within the top 1,000 names for boys up until about 1952. Madison returned to the top 1,000 ranked boy's names in 1987, remaining there through 1999, and it also was the 858th most common boys' name in 2004,

I agree that lots of good boy names are being taken over by the girls, but Madison has never been all that popular with boys. It's hovered around in the top 1000, but it's most popular year was 1881 when it came in at #321, or .026% of the boys born that year. Even when it appears as a boys name in 2004 at number 858, it was the number 3 girls name that same year.

So I guess you're right that Madison is technically a boy's name. But that's like saying "All Along the Watchtower" is a Bob Dylan song. Technically it is, but Jimi Hendrix put it on the map.

it's true. that's why choosing boy names is so hard!

i thought i'd chosen a name for my son that wouldn't be "stolen" by the girls, but i already know of 2 girls named Finn.
