Q: Paralysis after 4-wheeler injury ?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 30th, 2007
My daugher crashed her fourwheeler today and her neck is sore. My husband is convinced that she needs to see a doctor because she could wake up paralyzed, is that really possible, or can it wait until tomorrow at least? (my daughter says she doesn't need to go to the hospital)

There is no definite answer to your question without a physical examination. Any possible injury your daughter experienced from a contusion of the neck or head to a more serious injury can be determined via examination.

Paralysis is possible when there's been an injury of the spine medulla that passes through the vertebra, i.e if there's broken neck (which is not case here) However, you might schedule a visit to your doctor in order to exclude the possibility of more serious injuries.
