General Q and A Answer A3057
According to the symptoms you describe ("toe pricks like feel of pins pricking"), and the fact that you're diabetic, most probably you've been experiencing diabetic neuropathy. Daibetic neuropathy is a common complication experienced during diabetes. Diabetic neuropathy damages the nerves that allow you feel the sensations you mentioned. The areas of the body mostly affected by this type of neuropathy are the feet and legs. The most common symptoms of the condition include tingling, pain, burning, pricking of the extremities. These symptoms can become less if the blood glucose level is kept under control.

There are more ways that diabetes damages the nerves, but most of them seem to be related to high blood glucose levels in a longer period of time. Acidic food are not connected to this condition. Rather, diabetic neuropathy seems to be caused by the main disease - diabetes. You can consult a specialist in internal medicine for further advice.
