Q: jaw spasm and pins and needles sensation in my arms

My hands and fingers feel funny..
sometimes they have a little spasm or they hurt or I have pins and needles sensation.. sometimes even in my arms.

I have noticed the odd spasm on my jaw and lip also..
When I walk around I feel funny... I think I am okay then suddenly I lose my balance, or my legs feel funny.
other times I walk around and my head feels weird.

I just feel asthough I am going out of my mind, even when I talk sometimes I jumble my words or it doesn't sound right.
my sinus issues are getting worse, more so at night, it gets to the point where I am begining to lose my voice,
or my voice changes...
I feel weak.
I am sooo sick of this all.. seeing dr after dr, and not to mention I dont think ppl in my life are taking me serious atm, I feel so alone.

DeMarie - you describe so much of what I have been going thru most of my life; it's scary. No one understands either that's why I am so thankful for Internet support sites. I'm not alone in this battle.

What has helped me the most in reducing my jaw spasms has been good regular therapeutic massage by either a PT or MT. My posture - the way I hold my head, chin, neck and shoulders - has made a big difference also. It makes a difference more than you can imagine. And don't forget lots of moist heat.

Stress, talking, eating - all a normal part of our life but an enemy of TMJ sufferers. What are you doing right now to help your TMJ?

Please take care.
God bless...
Carol

Thanks for all the replies!!!

its mainly in my hands and fingers, they either spasm a bit, feel shaky or they have pains or tingles..
my legs are week, somtimes i feel spasms there and my toes.
and yes my jaw and tongue feel weird, the only thing i dont get is, my jaw isn't sore!!!
it cracks.. my partner heard it crack the other night.. but its never sore, not unless a dr applies alot of pressure on the tmj joint.

I saw a dr today and he reckons alot of what I am experiencing is actually anxiety as I have bene stressing alot lately.. and I was like what stress can cause hand spasms and all that?

I'm such a worry wort, i think of the most scary thing that could be causing it. to me its like oh funny feeling hands, it must be Parkinsons disease or something.
Last night I was trying to sleep and my body would jolt or slightly spasm, so I had to get up and go lay on the couch and ofcourse I was getting nausiated too.. I am either not hungry, or Nausiated, and when I do eat I cant seem to eat alot.

I am glad I am not the only one though,
its nice to know I can reach out to you guys!

Oh and another thing.. I have not been confirmed yet to have TMJ Disorder, still waiting till the 19th of July to see the specialist, but I suppose from the sounds of it all, wouldn't be suprised if I did.
Plus with the issues I had a few months ago, I was told I did actually have a sprained Jaw or something like that.

I have been seeing a physio about my problems..
she does some face/jaw massage and told me i can do it at home, she recomends heat aswell.
some tongue jaw exercise, where u hold the tongue on the hard pallate and bring your jaw down..
she noticed my neck was very stiff, so she gave me some things to do with that, I haven't really done much of it all, I must confess, but the 2nd session I did have with her My neck was alot better and my jaw wasn't cracking so much.
but now its started again...
my biggest issue last week was actually my coccyx bone, I have also somehow injured that so, if its not one end its the other, so much fun!

My 2 Cents
DeMarie,

I think I would first see a neurologist to eliminate any other problems. I did that first and he told me my problems were related to TMJ. Better safe than sorry. I have the same problems you have but I wouldn't self diagnose, that could be dangerous. Process of elimination. Just my opinion. Wink

Hey Hi Just Thought of Something
Sure sounds like a jaw or a neck? but i just thought of something so i wanted to post it. my neck does this, the tingles and such in the arms and fingers. BUT ANXIETY can do some weird stuff too. i get terrible anxiety and when i am getting it, the SKIN ON MY ARMS BURNS.. now that is a weird one. you could be having a form of anxiety too.. from all the weird things you are feeling. just another possibility.cindy
