Playing softball the other night and made an akward turn with my left knee adn heard a pop. Since i tore my ACL in my right knee years ago and had it repaired this was different. Had a little swelling in the back of the knee, but still had full motion of knee. just a slight pain on the inside of knee when i put pressure on it to walk.

So after putting a 5lb bag of ice in the back of my knee, i got worrired it was something else and went to the NAVY Hospital ER. So after a 6hr wait, the doc told me that i had a level 2 hamstring pull. The doc also said for a few days the it would be sore to walk and just do the RICE method adn in a fw weeks it should be fine. i thought hamstring pulls were in the middle of the thigh and usually you dont hear a popping sound. if i still have mobility in my knee ccould i still have ruptured my ACL?

ur doctor examined u so i'm sure he has good reason to say its ur hamstring.

however, it is possible that u have done something to your ACL or to the cartilage in the knee joint.

do have problems going up or down stairs? does your knee ever "give way"?

3 muscles actually make up the "Hamstring" muscle. Near the bone, the muscles become fibres called tendons. The hamstring tendons insert at both the tibia and fibula...so it's possible that you haven't experienced an ACL injury.
