i've been looking for a place lately. i can only afford 570 for rent. so alone i can get a crappy one bedroom in some sketchy building. with a friend i could afford a decent two bedroom. the thing is, my friends aren't that reliable. i don't really want to be in that situation with one of my friends. i've been looking really hard though, and i found out that when people rent out parts of their house it's way cheaper. not only that but a lot of times it ends up having more space, and you aren't in a building with tons of people. today i had two to look at. one was an apartment in their house with a separate entrance. the house was really nice, nice neighborhood, it was like, 470 a month. Someone else went to look at it right before me. I get there to look at it, i'm told the last people who came to look just spoke for it and put down first and last months rent already. the second one i'm suppose to go to is a little rough (from the outside). the neighborhood looks sketchy, the neighbors yards are dirty, but i'm going to try because i can't exactly be picky. this one is 550 a month. Anyways, i wait and the land lord never shows up. i call from my friends cell phone and he says he is having trouble with the tenant and is not able to get in. shouldn't he have looked into this yesterday, when he made the appointment with me for today. and he could have at least showed up to let me know what was going on... because i stood there and waited in the horrible heat with rowan. anyways... i'm just disappointed. i want to get into my own place really badly, and it seems like it's never going to happen. each time i get my hopes up something like this happens.

i check the news paper daily. i also have a good website where people list. the thing is out of say 20 listings there are about 3 i can afford. and only 1 will end up being on the right side of town. then i will check that one out and something like this will happen.

Just hang in there. The right place will come along when you least expect it. It took me and my husband over a year to find the right place for us, that was affordable.

no you probably think that because my facebook is listed as kingston. i'm in belleville and everyone from there is listed from kingston because it's the closest region facebook comes up with when you type in belleville. i guess belleville is too small or something. anyways, i do this thing where i basically write a thesis about something i only need about one sentence to say. i do this in real life too, i will say basically the same thing over and over in different words.

anyways, i don't have a year to find my own place. i'll go nuts before then. i am not happy when i stay at eriks. just the other day i was at the store with his mom and i grabbed some bananas to mush up and give rowan, and his mom picks up a jar of banana flavoured baby food. i tell her i am not going to feed rowan that stuff and that i don't want preservatives and chemicals going into her, that i would buy and make her food myself. his mom buys the jarred food anyways, says "it's for emergencies" and that night i see her mixing it in with rowan's cereal. after me telling her exactly how i felt about it. also, i said i didn't want to start rowan with any cereal until she was six months. one night i went out and asked her to babysit. i come home the next day to find out that rowan had her first cereal without my permission, and without me there to experience it. i'm tired of stuff like that happening, and having those boundaries stepped over. i've been staying at my moms a lot, but i don't have help here and the house is so cluttered and messy it is driving me nuts. my mom is rude and always criticizes how i do things with rowan. she never has a normal conversation with me, it's always her telling me how to do something, or something i'm doing wrong, or insisting there is something wrong with rowan.

This may not even be a consideration, but are there houses out there were someone may have a full basement or half the house to rent?? This may be scary but perhaps there is some older lady who has a big house and doesn't need all of her space. I am just grasping here.

Good luck! I really hope you find something soon.

that's what i mean by apartments in houses, it's just a part of peoples houses they rent out, not actually seperate from their home. normally it's like a basement or something.

please be very careful though. It can turn really bad if you move in with someone who doesn't have their stuff together. You'll end up losing a friend,in debt and evicted with your child and I couldn't imagine that happening to you.try if you can to get a place alone as a bad idea it may seem right now.If I could go back and do it over I would have done it alone.
