Q: Ear Infection And Forehead Thermometers (don't Buy Them)

I went to the doctor on Monday because I hadn't felt very well for over a week. I had a mildly sore throat and a temperature. The doctor told me that I had an ear infection and if I hadn't come in I could have ended up completely deaf in my left ear. As it currently stands I've actually lost some hearing ability in that ear and I have to go back in two weeks to see if the loss is temporary or permanent and to what extent my hearing has been damaged. The weird thing is that my ear never hurt! And I actually didn't even know that I had a temperature until sunday because I bought a forehead thermometer that kept reading my temperature at 98.5. That freaked me out! If I hadn't found my regular digital thermometer on sunday I would have just kept assuming that I had a mild cold. Confused

oh, i'm great now! I had an antibiotic and I feel well enough to clean up and hang out on the internet! Laughing antibiotics are wonderful things. i think it'll be temporary because yesterday I could only hear loud noises with that ear but today I can hear dh when he talks, he just sounds like he's talking through a pillow. It's actually given me a much needed break from listening to him. I pretend that I can't hear him so he hasn't said much to me today! Laughing I'm so bad!!

Yikes! that's really shady that the forehead thermometers didn't work. I hope the hearing loss is only temporary....or when you get your hearing back, it can be selective Wink
