Q: What If I Don't Want to Switch Pills?

I had a pap smear and physical last week after being on Ortho Lo for about a year and a few months. I was interested in changing BC to try something that would shorten my period because although Ortho Lo worked very well for me as a birth control (and I never had any side effects, no breakthrough bleeding, or spotting, gained weight but that may not be entirely because of the pill). Anyway as a birth control it's worked really well but I mentioned to my doctor that my periods still last pretty much the full 5-7 days on ortho lo.

I was prescribed Loestrin 21 Fe. I have one more month of Ortho lo but then have a prescription for the new bc to get filled for a 3 month supply. The more I've been reading about Loestrin the more I am thinking I am actually pretty content with Ortho Lo and would maybe prefer not to change pills. I like that I haven't had any side effects or any problems at all with Ortho Lo, I'd rather not risk changing the pill and having to deal with problems of a new pill. And I can deal with still having periods that are 5 days. Plus, Loestrin is a bit more expensive. There is the generic version of Loestrin, but I heard that the generic versions are not as effective for birth control. So....

If I call my doctor back and tell her this, and even offer to bring back my prescription slip for the 3 month supply, and get one for Ortho Tri cylin lo is that feasible?

Thanks for any help!!
