I am 29 and 240 lbs (obese). I have not always been this way. I watch the biggest loser and it seems like they exercise everyday for results. I exercise only 3 times a week and do not see any results. Will I see results if I exercise everday for an hour will that help?

Well I think you should up it to 4-5 times a week. Maybe take a daily/nightly walk. Main thing is to watch what you eat. Stay off the sugar and watch your fat intake. Try cutting down on soda's and fast food, as most people have a hard time doing.

Hello,
I agrea that you should be careful about what you eat. But my advice since my mother is a personal trianer and im training to be a work out instructor would be that you make a plan and stick to it! Very Happy
I would say workout 4 times a week for a good hour and the days you dont work out go for a walk. ( : The show biggest loser, its bit on the extream side. Working out everyday is very hard on the body and not very good. Start at about 4 days and if you feel maybe you are up to 5 days then go for it. Hope this was helpful good luck. Smile

Also, make sure you enjoy your work outs. It has to be a form of exercise you get something out of.

Also, intensity is important. Working out 3 times a week can be enough, but it would have to be at a high intensity. Like doing interval training. Hard exercise/cardio for 2minutes, rest for 2mintues or a minute.

Good luck

No, it's not a good idea to just start exercising every day. That will lead to overtraining, which is a bad thing. Overtraining can lead to a weaker immune system, lower energy, giving up, irritability, higher chance of injury, and all the things no one wants, especially when wanting to accomplish something through a workout. PACE IT ACCORDING TO WHAT YOU CAN DO, don't forget a day or two for rest at least. Sure, some people can exercise everyday, I know of some active people who run for hours every day, but they have spent years working themselves up to that point. Remember, the biggest loser is a tv show. TV shows are edited for entertainment. How many people want to see a bunch of random people sitting around resting? My coach says a similar thing for gymnastics competitions on tv: why are some people getting scores of 9 when the score should be much lower? Well, who's going to pay to watch someone get a 7? It's edited for entertainment to make money, so I doubt they actually get no rest.
If you don't see results, keep in mind that you must be patient, you must eat a healthy, balanced diet, and you must do a lot of cardio.
I'm not a doctor, but this is what I have been told by professionals.
-Hope this helps

try eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day, avoid fats and sugars when possible. (turkey and chicken are great) only drink water or diet drinks. maybe replace one meal a day with a salad if you do this, and dont exercise, youll lose weight easily. and if you add some exercise 3-4 times a week, youll burn the fat real fast

I've found it's easier to incorporate physical activity into a lifestyle rather than just a workout. Working out 3 days a week can be enough if the other days your playing raquet ball, swimming, or on a volleyball team.
