General Q and A Answer A3021
The swallowed chicken bone is technically labeled a foreign object. Chicken bones usually get stuck in the pharynx. Do not try to extract the bone by finger or instrument by yourself because you may push it further into the airways and obstruct or damage the surrounding tissues. If you still feel pain during swallowing, or the sensation of the foreign body, you may consult an otorhinolaryngologist for a consultation and assistance.
