Q: Is This Healthy ?

I am going to be 20 soon and for the past 2 years I have gained a couple extra pounds. I used to eat horribly until I started noticing I cannot fit into my pants anymore. It REALLY bothers me! I am not nearly as active as I was in high school because I work 40 hours a week and go to school in the evenings. The only thing I can rely on is my diet. Friday I tried something new and I don't know if it's healthy or not? In the morning I had a small bowl of Cheerios w/ hardly any milk. For lunch, I had an all natural smoothie from a health smoothie place in the gym. For dinner, I ate kind of late because I don't get out until late I had chicken fajitas and chips & salsa. I know eating late is horrible but overall does it sound like I could lose any weight doing it this way? All I need to lose is MAYBE 5 lbs. or I would be underweight (not that I wouldn't be happier with that!) Could anyone please give me some advice?

If you deprive yourself of food servings your body is going to slow its metabolism down as a survival mechanism.

Have you tried incorporating excercises here and there? Sounds silly but it works. When you wake up do some push ups. Take the stairs. Push ups before sleep. Possibly sit ups too.

Starvation is baddddd. People want instant results but its not gonna happen. You have to be committed. I cant really tell u what to eat because I dont know what you have access to. One thing though, your body often signals thirst with the same sensation as hunger. Many times you will think you are hungry and your body is merely thirsty. Drink lots of water, it helps alot.

Yes, Tony is correct. Did you know that eating late isn't really bad for you....it's the amount of calories that you have consumed in a day's time. It's an old myth. You can do it! :0)

i would suggest doing a diet something like this:
for breakfast do cereal with skim milk. lots of calcium few calories = very healthy.\
if you drink coffee cut out half and half and either do skim milk or black. definately no sugar.

lunch fruit and lean cuisine. you need to get protien and if you do a frozen healthy dinner your guaranteed to not over eat on calories. not to mention they are DELICOUS.

and dinner do not do chips. they are NOT good for you at all (my guilty pleasure:( )
try steam fresh vegetables and rice with a little butter. i like to add onion powder. so good and filling!
i find that doing frozen things helps me because they are quick handy and healthy.

i hope i helped a little! good luck

sounds fine
It doesn't sound at all like you are starving yourself!lol. My goodness.
Eat small meals like that throughout the day and you will lose weight. The chips, I would definitely cut out..and try not to eat too late. Your metabolism does slow down when you sleep, so if you eat right before you go to bed, it just isn't good.

To meblonde01...on atkins you do end up eating pretty high fat and high calories for the first little while...calories don't matter on atkins. But, you eventually add in more vegetables and good carbs and it becomes a healthy and very effective diet.
