I have recently been diagnosed with cts
and tennis elbows and after 2 weeks on
prednisone I'm now on ibuprofen.
Right now I only wear my wristbracers and
elbow bands when I'm behind my computer
but I was wondering if I should start
wearing them all the time because even
when I'm not doing anything with my hands
I almost constantly have sharp pains in my
elbows and my fingers numb out a couple of
times a day. And how about during the
night?
Thanks!

Hey there,
My eye was caught by your note, because I
had the exact same combination of
symptoms--both CTS and tennis elbow, what
a gift (not.)
I'm a writer, so I got the CTS from that,
and the tennis elbow from surfing, of all
things.
I really recommend finding a physical
therapist who does ASTYM. I did the drugs
thing for months, and finally had a PT
recommend ASTYM therapy. It was
absolutely amazing. It took 12
treatments, and my insurance covered it.
I found a bunch of info about ASTYM
online.
Good luck, I sure hope you feel better.

Thank you for the reply.
I looked it up but I can't find anywhere
in my area where they do Astym but next
week I'll be going to the doctor again to
see if I can go to a specialist. I don't
have any insurance but that's because I've
been denied for all of the plans below
$400+/month and we just can't afford that.

Man, I hear you! Ive been denied
insurance too. I'm bummed you don't have
an ASTYM provider near you--that's one of
the weaknesses of the therapy, it's not
yet done everywhere, which is a bummer for
us.
Good luck with everything!

ASTYM Posted: 01-23-08 16:12pm
Hey thanks for the sugestion, It has been
almost 8 months having both cts and tennis
elbow which really really sucks because I
need to work on computers.
How long did it take to get back to normal
functionality with ASTYM?
Do you have relapses?
In Canada there is a certin number of
treatments covered my our government, so I
did normal physio with ultrasound and
electrolysis and though it really improved
my condition it never returned me to a
normal state. And I keep having relapses,
so I kinda want your opinion and
experience with the ASTYM treatment.

ASTYM stuff Posted: 02-05-08 19:51pm
Hi there,
I just went to the ASTYM Web site and
don't see anyone in Canada that does the
treatment. But, that said...
After ASTYM, it took about 3 months to get
complete, pain-free functionality. I had
to stretch and keep doing the
strengthening exercises, and the pain
faded away.
But I noticed a HUGE difference after 3 or
4 treatments. Like, such a difference I
was amazed. From there, it slowly got
better.
I'm a big fan of ASTYM. I had it done for
plantar fasciitis on my feet, too. It
really helps with soft-tissue/repetitive
stress stuff.
Good luck, and let me know if I can tell
you anything else.

PowerBall exercise Posted: 06-24-08 11:21am
I sit at my computer all day and I've
noticed an increased pain at my wrists, I
did a some research and I came across this
excercise that is supposed to work out
your wrists and forearms. It also
mentioned treatment for tennis elbow. You
might want to check it out. Its called a
PowerBall. It's a plastic ball that has a
Gyro wheel spinning inside. You start it
spinning and then you rotate your wrist in
circles to make the ball go faster. The
faster it goes the more pounds of torque
is generated. You don't have to spin it
very fast to work the muscles out. A lot
of physicians recommend it to their
patients to help rehabiliate the wrists
and forearms. It's actually pretty fun
too.
I've just got mine in the mail a few days
ago and have already noticed that my
wrists don't hurt as bad and that I have a
stronger grip. My forearms are starting
to get tougher.
