Q: Question Question Question

i have a question! Smile

okay so im leaving in 6 days for maine! i've already bought my airplane tickets, round trip and everything, but now i have a problem.

everytime i talk to tommys mom she says something like "well maybe you could just quit kmart and come to work up here at hannaford and stay with me for the rest of the summer" or "you could stay longer if you like" every time and it makes me feel so bad because i know shes lonely! one of her babies lives in florida and the other lives in washington, so i know shes lonely, and i would loooooooooove to stay with her in maine for a while.

thing is, i've already paid for my ticket home... do you think if i call the airline and cancel that ticket that they could save it and let me use it for my way home on another date? (i know im not wording this right, but i've heard if you cancel the ticket you can use it for another date?)

I'm not sure about that. I know in some instances you can make your return "open" so you don't have to return on ___ date, but .I think you have to give the airline a bit of notice so they can have a seat available. I think it may cost you a little more, but maybe not. You could always just cancel your return and then buy a ticket home when you're ready. Check on the prices and see what works for you.

Sounds like a good plan. I hope you have a good stay. If you come north, let me know .I'd love to meet you and have you meet .Jaylon

depends on the airline maybe i know they dont like to give refunds but may give u a credit, my brother ended up getting off the plane to michigan they wouldnt refund hsi ticket but he had that to use but only him or a family member could use it, he somehow worked around it and used that ticket for his gf to come. So im sure that you could work around that they just wont refund you any money back most likely.

There may be a fee to change your ticket...or if you dont know the exact date of return, you could leave it open like mommy35 said, or just cancell it and buy it when you know. I am sure it depends on the airline. I would call the airline and ask what the procedure is and see if there is a way to avoid any additional fees. I think that would be cool for you to stay the whole summer if you want to and that means you get to see Tommy more, right? That would be awesome and I think good for you.

i think it's great that you have such a good relationship with tommy's mom. nick's mom is a stranger to me, i panic when i see her name on the caller id because i don't know what to say to her.

if you stay i bet we could convince cindy to meet us in portland!

and i'm gonna have to call to see about this, i really really want to.

but unforunately no i won't get to see tommy any more than i would normally, he's flying back to florida on the 7th of july (just like im scheduled to) but i'd be staying with his mom and grandparents, she wants me to soooo bad. i don't want my mom getting jealous though Laughing i'll let you guys know how it goes!

because mine is taller and yours is wider.

and shannon, i had to mess with my dimensions to get it so it wasn't so distorted. it's still not normal but that's the best i could get it.

maybe we could do the portland thing while tommy and i are up there? it doesn't look like im going to be able to stay Sad it'd be 100 dollars to change the ticket, and then the cost of the new ticket and i can't afford that and to lose my job before i have another one lol arrrrrrrgh. i need to be responsible instead of go with what i want to do i guess. but i soooo wanna meet cindy too!

that doesn't sound right. i can see the $100 charge to change it but how can they charge you for another ticket?

what airline is it? i'll look it up.

airlines suck.
thats happened to my family loads of times and usually the best bet is just to use the roundway as a one trip and then just buy a one trip flight back.

its us airways, b.

it says something like 100 dollars to change and then they'll find the cheapest fair they can or something...

ahh... us air... i believe their motto is "us air, we don't care". i had a travel nightmare with them.

anyway, this is what i found...

Domestic flight changes are subject to a $100 fee and international flight changes are subject to a $200 fee, in addition to any difference in fare.

Here are the rules:

* If a reservation is canceled on/before the ticketed departure date, the value of the ticket may be applied toward future travel up to one year from the original issue date. Travel on the new ticket must be completed within one year of the original date of issue.

so it's $100 and any difference between the original ticket and the new one. when they say they'll find the cheapest fare it means so you have to pay the least amount of difference. get it?
