Q: Is Anyone Using Yaz?

Hi! My daughter is using the birth control pill YAZ for 11 months now. She has had increased moodiness the week before her period. This was not too bad when she first began to take it. Now, she is very emotional and moody. Am I reading into things? Is it just her or does YAZ seem to heighten emotions for anyone else?

Especially eHealthy
Any form of horomonal birth control can increase emotions related to pms in women. It's a common side effect.

Yes, this I know. I want to know if anyone is experiencing heightened emotions on YAZ more than while on any other form of BC

Yes, Tried Yaz
I tried Yaz, my doctor recommended it to me because it was supposed to be the best thing out there for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is also used for acne treatment and is FDA approved to treat the emotional and physical symptoms of PMDD. The funny thing is, my doctor says a lot of women experience emotional symptoms. I remember taking my first pill and feeling the need to just cry which was weird. It got worse over time. The thing though is that Yaz doesn’t give any other side effects and I lost weight instead of gaining weight which was good. It also grows you a cup size but that is because your breasts get tender. My only real complaint was the moodiness. With all the horrible bc out there I may switch back. I am on Loestrin generic and I hate it so much but my new insurance doesn’t cover Yaz.

Yaz
I have been on Yaz for about 6 months now...switched from ortho lo. Here's my experience with side effects.

No weight change
No breast tenderness
Isn't causing dryness vaginally
I still have some nausea and sleepiness, but it got better when I started taking the pills closer to bed time.
Moodiness level isn't terrible, sometimes I get moodier than normal, but hey I'm a girl!!! Laughing

i can get super emotional(sometimes not always) the week before my period anyway...yaz hasn't done anything to heighten this i would say...if anything its actually helped calm me down...i've only been on the pill for 3 months now but i like it so far..only thing i'm concerned about is skipping my period completely which ive heard some do..i have yet to experience that and hope i dont..because i'd flip..

Ive been on Yaz for a little over a year and a half. To me, and my friends, and boyfriend. it has made me sooooo emotional. i cry easily over everything, or get super irritated and mad at the littlest things. i never used to be that way before. it used to take a lot to make me cry and something very severe to upset me and make me mad and yell at people. i am thinking of trying some other form of BC, but i do like the fact that my face has been super clear. Before Yaz i used to break out all on my forehead. It seems to be fine now. =]

I've been on Yaz for about two monthes. When I first started it my boyfriend was really worried because his previous girlfriend had really horrible mood swings. He also told me that she had had a history of mood swings, I think that the Yaz just made this worse. He has told me that I haven't changed since I've started taking it. I haven't had any weight change other than when I was sick I lost a little weight. I don't get really moody either. I have noticed my breasts are getting a little bit bigger Smile But I think that's from starting puberty really late. But all in all I think that Yaz is a good choice in birth control.

I started taking Yaz May of last year. I had noticed that my mood was getting better and that my face had cleared up. I went to florida in June and when I got back I felt sick for three weeks straight. Just nauseous and dizzy. My mom kept thinking about all the possible reasons for this, ie jetlag or a cold. Then we remembered I was taking Yaz, so I stopped taking it. My mood swings had gotten worse so my mom thought we could try it again. I got back on the pill in January, and the last week of february I was sick a whole week with pretty much the same symptoms dizzness and nausea. But now I am very anxious all the time. Mom thought it might be the flu then she remembered that this happened last summer. So I stopped taking the pill yet again. I have had no dizzyness or nausea since.
Oh and I took my pill before bed so that I would be asleep because I know that some pills make you nauseous when you take them. This nausea was nothing compared to what I experienced. I am completeley sure that this was a side effect from the pill because I have not been on any other medication.
Hope this helps..

Yaz
I've been on Yaz for about three months and the only obvious side effect other than clearer skin has been my breasts. I was a 34B (and that was slight denial because I could have gotten away with an A) and am now a 34C - and THAT is denial because I refuse to wear a D just due to pill side effects. I'm worried that if this wears off, my boobs wil shrink back and be saggy so I am afraid to go off Yaz now. I always thought it would be cool to have bigger breasts but this was really drastic, I've had to buy new bras, and I hate the way my clothes fit.

I have been on it since November, it's now May and at first it wasn't so bad. I was never really had bad PMS but now the week before I cry at the drop of a hat and am a moody crank. I hate it.

i'm about to switch from Sprintec to Yaz. the ads say that it helps PMDD which me and my boyfriend think i have because the week before i get my period i get really depressed and cry alot and i just cry alot its really weird. but, alot of my friends are on yaz and its worked for them and didn't make them gain weight which i have gained 10 lbs. but my boyfriend says that if this doesn't help the mood swing that i shouldn't b on birth control at all do you think it might help my mood swings??? and is this the right pill to take?
