Hello.
for the past 2 months maybe, I started noticing pain in my Coccyx area, usualy if I had been sitting for too long.
but it got worse and worse..
eventually I saw a dr who told me it was Coccydinia and that its a really hard thing to get rid off.

From there I went and got a 2nd opinion, I ended up having an xray and was told I needed a Nuclear bone scan wich showed nothign wrong, but apparently my bone is curved more then usual.

we dont know how I ended up with Coccydinia.. I cant think of anything.

But I was just wondering if anyone else here suffers from it?
and do you find when it flares up it makes everything painful down there? including your rectum?
sometimes I feel as if I have something wedged up my bum, its so horrible!

What a nasty problem! It is so so painful. I know that some treatments are helpful, such as ice, sitting on a doughnut, anti-inflammatories, and pain medication. Physical therapists can do a little ultrasound and iontophoresis down there (don't worry that doesn't hurt, its just embarrasing). You are correct that it is very uncomfortable, and it does take quite a while to get over it. Sometimes we never really figure out what causes it. It could be a new desk chair, a long car trip, riding a bicycle, tripping over a curb if your anatomy is just right for predisposing you to this. You can try sitting on an exercise ball and then switch to your chair every hour or so at work to see if this helps.
