Q: Stem Cell Funding Veto

So, the stem cell bill which would allow for federal funding was recently vetoed because .G.W. indicated that "trading one human life to save others was not ethical". Well, what is war, exactly? Do you think that federal funding should help pay for stem cell research?

Hey
I dont think that we should be at war anymore than we should fund this research. I beleive that it was Bush's father that said " I have my opinions but I dont agree with all of them" It just seems like one of thos opinions.lol

I thoroughly agree. Bush can exchange iraqi lives for "freedom", but not an embryo for alzheimers?

But can't stem cells also be taken from umbilical cord blood? That would appease both side is the most part since no 'lives' will be taken for the sake of another

George Bush lied. No one was trading one human life to save others. A frozen non-viable embryo that is going to be either:

incinerated/thrown away

or

used to save others

is hardly trading a life.

Plus, if he really felt that way, why doesn't he outlaw it? Embryonic stem cell research is perfectly legal in this country.
