Interact with them when you are angry. If they do something that upsets you walk away. The worst thing you can do is say or do something that when you calm down you will regret.

-make them feel unwanted or like they are only a problem to you.
-teach them that they have to be perfect.

so important.
A parent should also never compare kids. "you should be more like your sister", "why can't you be good like ___"
Grrrr

never tell your child something that you will feel sorry for saying later on... ive heard of people telling their child that they hated them and wished they were never born... things that are said like these can never be taken back and the child will never forget it, they will remember it for the rest of their lives and will not forgive you for it so if they get you that angry that you feel as if you are going to say something hurtful lock yourself in your room until you have calmed down and then you can go and deal with the situation.

cuss at them
or
not protect them from someone else because they're trying to make that other person happy.

Parents should never be afraid to apologize to their child or admit they made a mistake.

Physically/mentally abuse them.
I know a woman who taught her child the alphabet and 1-10 backwards before the child entered general school. Amusing? Yes, until you learn that she didn't teach the child how to do either thing *forwards*, and taught the backwards version as if it was the right way. She did it for chucks and giggles. She got arrested. I agree with the police.

The child got to school and thought he was right. He couldn't add the way the teacher was teaching, because his comprehension was backwards. He couldn't say the alphabet forwards with the rest of the class because he didn't know it.
Can you imagine the humiliation for a child on their first day of school to be asked if he knew the abc's, and say them backwards, and you think it's forwards, and the teacher says "That's cute, but now say it right?" Can you imagine that child's confusion?
That's mental abuse.

One thing a parent should never do is neglect the child (ren) nor not let them learn i.e. not going to school making them stay home.
