Hey guys, im new to the board. And have just started my journey on birth control. I started the patch about 2.5 weeks ago. And was curious to know about spot bleeding. I've had an occasionaly light light 'period' type thing...Lasts a few hours, and have read on a website that that is because of low estrogen, so the blood capsules arent repairing themeselves or something?

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has had this, and how long it lasted...I also read that some girls it continues, so thats why they get off birth control, or need to take extra estrogen right before their periods?

Just curious, the reason I got on birth control was to feel more free to be with my boyfriend. We're both disease free, and monogomus....So dont go into the whole condom thing, we've done it. Anyways, as it is now, im not comfortable at all to have sex with him because im worried i'll start bleeding from the light 'trauma'. (which has occured with slight penetration)

please help, I want to know if this will pass, and people's experiences. Thanks!

If you are taking the pill at the same time everyday, and are not missing any, then you should not be spotting. Tell your doctor that you are spotting for no reason, and when during your cycle it is happening, and he/she can prescribe you a pill with the correct hormonal level that you need. The pill that you need to be on will have enough estrogen in it. You should not have to take any extra before your period.

Sorry, I did read it, but I had responded to so many like yours about the pill.
What I mean was pretty much the same thing except that if after the first three months of being on the patch (sorry about the confusion) if you are still spotting then you should go on the pill with a different hormonal level.
Same advice, just wrong wording. Sorry again!
