Hello,

i understand that you cannot diagnose medical issues via email, but I am searching the internet for information after 6 years of struggling to find the cause of my sons exercise induced headaches.

He is an otherwise healthy 9 year old, with no issues at birth. Since he was 3, any exercise (especially outdoors on a hot day) brings on an excruciating pounding headache. As a toddler he would say that his head was "beeping". His face becomes blotchy and one of the times that the school nurse was able to take his temperature during an episode, hit body temperature was just over 100 degrees. He appears wiped out after these "meltdowns" and depending on how quickly we can douse him with water and cool him off, he is out of it for a period of time.

We have seen neurologists, heart specialists, any number of general practitioners and even specialists in mito chondrial disorders since the symptoms seemed to be a match. Heart tests, cat scans, sweat tests, blood tests and even muscle biopsies have returned no abnormalities.

We are at a loss and doctors that we deal with have told us at this point he needs to live with this condition, which I feel is unacceptable. If there are any avenues that you think I may have missed I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Regards,

thomas j. Hannigan

Extremely EHEALTHy
Sometimes ehealth's notification system for further posts fails so just in case I don't get back to you, please pm me (private message) because a friend's husband & children suffer a disease (the name of which I forget - so I will have to phone her & get it & then hopefully relocate this post or better yet have someone else post so I get an ehealth reminder) which sounds similar.

Her family react to heat by basically requiring alot of water & to be kept cool - hard in an australian summer!! Otherwise they can dehydatre there are other symptoms of the disease they have but I will get back to you on it or you pm me.
