Skipped Period
I just started taking Yaz this summer. For the first few months my periods have been pretty regular. This is now the end of October and I never got my period . I just had some light spotting for a few days. I'm not sexually active at all. Should I be worried?

Nope. If you're not having sex, then this is a normal side effect of the pill.

missed period on Yaz
Hello, this month was my first time taking Yaz...I have been on the pill for 10 years but like I said, I switched this month to Yaz. I take the pill regularly, and with Yaz there are 3 extra active pills and 4 inactive pills...I ended the active pills on Tuesday and today is Friday and I still do not have a period or any signs really of getting one. I am starting a new pack on Sunday, but should I since I still don't have a period? I am just trying to find out if this has happened to someone else or if anyone has any input?

Thank you

Oh goodness yes, stress can cause a missed period or two. But again, Yaz also can cause missed periods, and this is a POSITIVE side effect!! Just test if you're nervous.

If your period does not occur when expected, or if you experience unusual breast tenderness or symptoms of morning sickness, call your doctor right away. These symptoms may indicate that you are pregnant. Yaz can cause birth defects in unborn babies if taken during pregnancy.

Really? I was under the impression that no form of birth control caused birth defects and that it was a rule they couldn't.

I have a similar case. I Have been on YAZ for almost a month and haven't had my period yet. I've also had dry sex recently, so I'm a little concerned even though many people have told me that there's no reason to be.

YAZ
I've been on the pill for two years and switched to yaz. the first month i got spotting before i was suppose to get my period, then during my white (inactive) pills I didn't get my period. Now I'm suppose to get in again and I only have two white pills left. MY breast are swollen and Im paranoid i might be pregnant. Does it matter if i take the pill at 4 pm instead of 7pm everyday like i used to do on the other pills?

A 3 hour difference shouldn't matter.

Advice
Hello All. I have had irregular periods all my life. I am now 23. I did not start my period until I was 16 and would miss periods for months during my late teen years. I got on birth control in October for the first time in years. I started out with YAZ, followed by the ring for one month, then on Yasmine starting in January. I stop taking my active pills on Saturdays and my period in Jan started on Monday. In February it started on Tuesday. I was expecting this months to start on Wednesday, but it is now Friday and I have nothing. I have the "feeling" like I am going to get my period, but still nothing. I take the pill religiously everyday at the same time. I am sexually active, but my BF has never released inside... he always pulls out. I have just recently started yoga intensely and have been trying to diet (aka skipping at least two meals a day)...

I am freaking out here. I am supposed to start my new pack tomorrow and still have no period. I know it's common to miss periods, but I am still worried. I guess I am going to go buy a test today to ease my mind, but I am hoping that the new excersise regimine and diet is affecting my period.

Skipping two meals a day is a very unhealthy "diet". You should eat small but balanced meals 3-4 times a day. If you're hungry, you need to eat. Don't stick to your current diet; it's perilously close to anorexia or bulemia. Starving yourself for part of the day makes you more likely to binge eat once you do get a meal, and you're less likely to choose healthy foods.

Crash diets can certainly cause a late period because they cause your body to freak out, as can increased physical activity. What day of the placebos are you on? Sometimes your period doesn't come until the last few days of the pills. If you think you are pregnant just go take a test. However, it's extremely unlikely.

I am on the last day of the placebo, hence why I am confused. I am supposed to start the new pack tomorrow. Should I still go ahead and start the pack tomorrow?

I know eating as little as I do is bad, but I snack a lot during the day to make up for a lot of it.

I am just puzzled because I feel like I am goign to stary my period. I don't usually cramp, but I just have this feeling I can feel in my area down there and I feel it now. Have you heard anything about Yasmine causing missed periods? I think I am going to try and switch BC because this is the third month I have either had an extremely light period and in this case none at all. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help. You certainly made me feel less worried.

Absolutely start the new pack. If this is just a missed period, then why risk removing your protection? Then you really WOULD be pregnant. As I said, just go get a test. Secondly, birth control does not cause birth defects or abortions. It does not harm the unborn. It's very carefully designed not to do that.

What do you "snack" on? Fruits and vegetables? If you're not snacking healthy, then there's no point in skipping meals since you're racking up the calories in a different way.

Your body goes through withdraw symptoms during the placebo week. That's why you get a period and why you get the symptoms. So of course you have the symptoms.

Why would you switch? Do you WANT a heavy period!? To my knowledge a light or gone period is a MAJOR bonus!!! In fact, isn't Yaz supposed to make your period light and go away? I'm pretty sure it is.

Yaz missed period
I'm on my 3rd pack of YAZ now and my period is a week late. There have been times last month I forgot one pill but then the following night I'd take two-- my doctor told me this would not put me in danger of geting pregnant. I've taken a pregnancy test which came out negative. I'm still really scared however that I may be pregnant. Any feedback?

missed period and STD
I'm in the same boat as a lot of the people posting things here. i just started yaz and im on my first pack. i take my 3rd placebo today and still, no period. i feel like i shouldnt be that concerned about being pregnant because my boyfriend and i have used condoms every time.

HOWEVER, the odd thing is that i've contracted chlamydia. i am 150% sure that i contracted it from my current partner, despite the fact that we've used protection EVERY time. i'm baffled about this, and now that i've contracted an STD from him i'm considering the fact that i could be pregnant.

i'm so distraught over this. if anyone has any insight, id greatly apreciate it. is it more likely that its just the side affectes od yaz or is it a real possiblilty that i can be pregnant even though we used condoms, seeing as it didnt stop me from getting chlamydia?

Re: Yaz Help - Missed Period
pmwncali wrote:
Last month I missed two pills in the third week of my cycle taking Yaz 28 day cycle, so the instructions were to throw away the rest of my pills and start a new pack meaning I would miss my period for that month.

In Yaz there are 24 pills + 4 white pills at the end meaning you have about 4 days of your period. I have taken three of the white pills now and still haven't started my period. I'm a little paranoid now, and since I missed my period last month (from starting a new cycle since I missed pills) I thought I would start early or even have breakthrough bleeding but I haven't, and haven't started my period so I'm a little worried.

Is everything okay? Like I said I'm just paranoid so I'm wondering if this is normal. I'm not sexually active and have not been for two months.

Should I start my new pack of pills even if I don't have a period or should I wait until I start my period to take a new pack? I am on the last pill meaning I would start the new pack tomorrow.

I am agree with "Tylanas".you must go for text.

Advice Needed
I have a couple of questions but first let me tell you my situation.

This is my first month on Yaz. I started the pills about a week after I had finished my period although the packet says to start either on the first day or on that Sunday but my doctor said it was ok.

The doctor told me I could start having unprotected sex after 7 days of using the pills. I started about a week and a half into the pills (11 days after starting Yaz).

I have NOT missed ANY pills, but I have been late an hour or two about 2 times. Other than that I've taken the pills within 20 minutes of the same time every day.

I'm on the white pills now. The first day of my white pill I had unprotected sex (idk if I was supposed to). Today is my third day of the white pill and I have not gotten my period but I have gotten light cramps.

I'm worried/stressed that I'm pregnant but ...

-Is there a possibility that I will skip my period this month since I started the pill after I had finished my period?

-If that's so, and I'm not pregnant, will I get my period next month?

-If I don't get my period this month, when would be appropriate to get tested for pregnancy? and are over the counter pregnancy tests legitimate?

hi! so i started yaz in september and i was on it for 3 months. im a very forgetful person, so i would often forget to take the pill every day or i would take it at a different time of day. when i would forget for a couple of days in a row, i would start my period even though it was not the right time.

because of my inconsistancy, i had my period 5 times in those 3 months. it was nearing the end of the school semester so i decided that when i got home, i was gona switch to a different for of birth control that was not and every day sort of thing.

so, when i got my last period in the first week of december, i decided to stop taking the pills after i got it. around a week after i had my last period, i had protected sex with my boyfriend.

when i got home, i got a perscription for a different birth control and i was waiting to get my next period so i could start it....and im still waiting. ive felt like i was gona get my period a couple times over winter break, but now its been a little over a month since my last period and i still havent gotten my next one.

im worried that even though i had protected sex using a condom, something malfunctioned without my knowledge and since my birth control is out of wack, im scared that im pregnant. is that possible? if so, it would be like 3 weeks into the pregnancy and wouldnt i show some sort of signs if i were actually pregnant?? im rle scared and worried....
