Panic Tmj And Inner Ear ? Posted: 06-20-07 12:40pm
hey everyone, i'm cindy. i have been doing
alot of digging into the inner ear, and
tmj. The inner ear is very close to the
jaw. somehow the inner ear has something
to do with getting panic. Plus then, all
the weird awful symptoms we all have makes
panic too. who wouldnt panic? right? but
anyway i'm traveling to ear groups in
search of help for us tmj'ers. tips tricks
or anything to help us with all our
strange ear symptoms. i'm learning alot.
like there is a muscle deep in the jaw
called the pterygoids(something like that)
anyway on that muscle is a nerve that
communicates to the eustacian tube. So if
something is tight, swollen, or aggrevated
you get popping ears! enough to drive a
person nuts. any thoughts from anyone on
this? anyone know more? love cindy

Cindy, I am only a little aware of the
inner ear problems being associated with
panic. I like your plan to visit ear
groups. I am amazed at how close the ears
and TMJs are to each other. My ears have
always been a problem. Now I have
tinnitus and the ENT I just visited (who's
supposed to be an acoustic expert) had
nothing to say about it even tho that was
why I was there. He was more concerned
about my degenerative jaw joints and that
I might have TMJ (I was trying not to
laugh out loud at this point), and that I
have hearing loss (I knew that also). So,
if it hadn't been for the CT scan of my
head (jaw & ear), the trip would have
been a complete waste. I didn't developed
tinnitus until 26 years after getting TMJ.
Now that my pain is controlled, it almost
doesn't seem fair to get tinnitus. Oh
well, I'm able to live with it but it's
always on my mind. Could you see if you
can find out how to "cure" tinnitus in
your visiting?
How did you develop TMJ?
God bless...

Hi Carol, Posted: 06-22-07 11:17am
Oh I'm working on it. all the time, the
ear stuff, cause we all have alot of ear
problems, including titinitis. when ever i
have nothing to do, i pop from group to
group trying to find something to help us.
i have learned alot from the people(ear
menieres) thay are teaching me alot. i
like to ask regular people, they know more
than docs sometimes. i got tmj from a
dentist dislocating my face. Um it is
alittle more than that tho. he also pushed
out my neck(atlas) so i actually have a
neck that shifts my jaws and rams my ear.
so i look into necks_ and how they relate
to jaws- ears too alot on the ears.all
kinds of things. i have done nothing but
chiro care for it, i am an odd case as far
as that is. like a good experiment on tmj
and the chiropracter. right now i am
wearing a old fashioned clip on earring in
my ear hole, as an experiment. It seems to
be working and getting rid of those
strange ear sensations that come with
tmj.i'll see how it comes along, or if it
builds up ear pain or not as time goes
on.Looks silly too!!! ha ha ha love cindy

My Dumb Doctor..... Posted: 07-11-07 03:29am
I have been getting "ear infections"
vertigo every other month. My doctor says
my ears look like raw hamburger. He has
been giving me antibiotics and I thought I
had something wrong with my ears also. By
searching endlessly on the internet, I've
learned that TMJ causes ear pain. So I
think I've been taking these mega doses of
antibiotics for nothing. The pain is like
someone has a needle in my ear! Don't
know anymore than that but thought I would
add my experience.
