hello I am a 25 year old male in the chicago area and I was hopeing maybe some of you could help me, it would be so greatly appreciated. About 4 years ago I came down with the most horrible food poisoning after eatting a gyro in wisconsin and after that my life hasnt been the same. I was sick out of both ends for a period of about 5 days. However it didnt stop at that. I was scared to death to eat when the sickness started going away. I dropped mass amounts of weight and became tired all the time due to bad nutrition. so I started forcing myself to eat and slowly got back into the habbit of trying to eat regular meals. But somethin just wasnt right. Every time i would eat my stomach would sound like a boiling pot of water and I would become extremly gassy (both ends) yea it is some embarrasing stuff =/. The years have passed and I have been maken myself deal with it because I just simply cannot afford to go see a doctor. I have lived on my own since I was 16 and do not have much family at all to turn to for help. heres my everyday symptoms.
1) boiling pot feeling in my stomach its so noisy and feels almost like the water is running over in my stomach.
2) constant burning usually in my chest sometimes lower abs.
3) gas gas and more gas (both ends) never any fun.
4) diareah on a rare ocasion but usually feel more constipated than anything else.
5) burning sensation in my throat like I can feel the acid going up my chest.
6) akward sleep paterns, sometimes I just cannot sleep at all no matter how tired I am.
7) sometimes its hard to swallow and I stress so bad I get light headed. Yet other times I dont feel stressed at all but have the same symptoms.
Cool An extreme full feeling at times after eating like I just have to keep belching to let the air out.

Do any of you share the same symptoms? Can anyone give me advice as to who I should talk to so I can go see a doctor? Payment plans prolly wont work for me cause my credit is shot from when I was a kid trying to make it on my own.

A few thngs about myself-
1) I do smoke (yes i know stupid) but its sooo hard to quit as I light a ciggarete when I feel stressed out and it became routine.
2) I drink alot of caffeine to make it through my day because im afraid to eat and go to work so my stomach doesn't act up on me while im trying to make a living.
3) My teeth are in horrid condition. Last time i saw a dentist he told me my teeth arent producing enamel and i need to get them taken care of ASAP. I just do not know how i can afford all of this. I feel so stuck. I try not to let it break my because theres always someone who has it worse. I just dont know how to fund and or approach a way of getting the funds to fix my health.
4) I went from mr. active to mr. 25 year old video gamer haha. My stomach plays a big factor in the never really leaving the house. And I have lost so much weight I almost just feel embarassed to leave the house.

Anyway any advice would be great. If you have none to offer thank you very much for taken the time to read this anyway. I just feel so alone with all my stomach problems and I prey every day im not going to find out its cancer or something. If you have had similiar experiences with your stomach and have talked to a doctor id love to here what was said and what the diagnosis was. Not like it could fix me of my stomach problems but maybe give me some of an idea as to what im lookin at instead of always just guessing. Thankyou again everyone.

One thing you can try, which I did, is to change some of the things you eat and drink. Soda seems to make it worse. I also have a coffee habit. I cant' live without it, but it was making me so sick. I tried an acid reduced coffee and it has been much easier to tolorate. Its called Cophee. Its pretty good.

I have a similar thing with my stomach. I can feel a slight burning sensation in my upper abdomen and when i place my hand over the area i can really feel it pulsating. I'm only 16 so i doubt it would be an aora aneurysm which most often occurs in people over the age of 60. However, i did find out that it could be GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) or that anxiety can play a big role. The more I read about GERD, the more I started thinking it was the answer to your problems.

Some of GERD's symptoms include: a rising burning sensation in chest, trouble swallowing, weight loss, sour, acidic taste in mouth, sometimes nausea, gas build-up..

When I read your story and about all those terrible things that are happening to you, I almost started crying. Don't you have a family or friend who u can ask to help you get money to pay to see a doctor? It's very important that you see one. I hope things get better soon and that this was somewhat useful!

i'm 33 and i've had the same problems...i had an allergic reaction to antibiotics (omnicef)...my chest was hurting so bad it felt like someone was sitting on me. the ER said that it's known to cause acid buildup in your stomach and some people can't handle it. since that happened my stomach hasn't been the same! i get the full feeling when i eat like nothing else will go down. the burning in my esophogus and the sour taste. that medicine messed my stomach up pretty bad! i haven't been to the dr yet either cause i was waiting to see if it would heal on it's own first! i think i will make an appt just to be safe and i'll let you guys know what he says....

I have those symptoms of bloating and gas. Had a scope done and showed gastritis. Been on several meds but still have the problems. The are trying a new reflux med. Sounds to me u might have gerd or gastritis. Change your diet and no coffee or soda.

Pray it gets better for us all.

To me this sounds like IBS/dyspepsia which can develop following an infection (google postinfectious IBS). I had the "stomach flu" this summer, and since then I have been plagued with recurrent nausea and frequent stomach churning, which it sounds like you are experiencing. I have few lower digestive problems, but nonetheless my GI has suggested IBS.

I would recommend cutting out caffeine, or at the very least switching to green tea, etc, rather than coffee or soda. Additionally, you may want to try a probiotic such as Align to restore good bacteria to your gut. Good luck.
