Q: Delivery

I had a nightmare delivery. The nurse tried to put the IV in 6 times. A new nurse was successful on the 7th attempt. The epidural was tried 13 times. They kept hitting bone. Finally she threw her hands up and said "I give up. It's not working." And left the room. I had to delivery with no pain medication. They gave me demeroul(sp). During the delivery I was never given an episiotomy. She allowed me to tear. I have experienced numbness and I just don't feel the same in that area. Anyone else experience anything like this?

im sorry you had such a bad experiace but demeral is pain medication and you dont need an episiatomy, its perfectly fine (and normal) to tear, and many times it heals easier

personally i had a natual med free birth by choice (only med i had was sleep meds in the begining because i was falling asleep standing up, litterally) i tore, and it was wonderful, im still a little sore 3 weeks later but i wouldnt change it for anything in the world

they had to try 4 times with the iv for me, i have small deep rolling veins

i never wanted or tried having an edidural but that sounds awful

Delivery
Thanks. I actually had the demeral about 5 minutes before I delivered. It didn't control the pain, just took the edge off. It took 9 stitches to close me up. This is my 3rd baby. I knew about the pain, I just couldn't believe the problems that arose. My nurse/midwife called it a comedy of errors. Very Happy
