Q: Unexplained Headaches

Since February of this year I have had constant headaches from the moment I wake up until the moment I fall asleep. I'm 17 and very active. I've been seeing a doctor but so far they have come up with nothing. I'm currently on amitriptyline but it is not helping. Sometimes they get so bad I can't even get out of bed but sometimes they are moderate. Lately they have been getting much worse. I've also been noticing that i've been having numbing sensations in certain spots of my arms. They've been severely interrupting with my everyday life and if anyone could help me out in any way I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to .ehealth!

I'm sorry that you have been experiencing this. I know how frustrating and scary it can be to not know any answers, especially at a young age.

Amitriptyline can be helpful, but on it's own, isn't going to offer the most help. Have you tried any other medications? Even over the counter, such as tylenol or excedring? If so, were they of any help?

What type of pain are you experiencing? More of a dull or sharp? Throbbing or pressure? Where are you experiencing the pain? Is it more on a certian part of your head or all over? You said that they can very in intensity, have you noticed what makes it worse?

THis is a list of the most common triggers. But, it doesn't have to be one of these.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a better picture of what you are experiencing.
