Q: New Here!! Need Help Anxiety Meds? Please!

Hello. My husband and I have been ttc. Not sure yet but believe I may be pregnant. Thing is...I have been diagnosed as having dissociative identity disorder, better known as multiple personalities. I have depression and bad anxiety, goes with the teritory I suppose. Have been taking prozac and klonopin. Not sure if the meds are safe. I have heard that prozac is safe during pregnancy.
My psyciatrist told me that klonopin should be fine but might not want to take it in first trimester? My family doc says he wouldnt put me on anything during pregnancy.
The internet is conflicting on anxiety pills during pregnancy. Im confused. Hoping someone here has some information please!!! Klonopin has been the only thing that has eased things for me. Almost my own personal miracle. Yet, I may not be able to continue taking it?
Question does anyone have any idea? Or if any anxiety med is safe? Hoping to know about klonopin but I just dont know if I can do this without the meds. I stopped taking them and then started truly freaking out to the point that I was afraid I would end up in a mental ward by the end of the week. So I started taking them again. Please>> is you have info....Would appreciate that soooo much.

Look into cognitive behavioral therapy (cbt). It enabled me to get off of all meds and feel better than ever :d

I'm just over halfway through my cbt group (7th week of 12). We meet once a week and we are using the book by sam obitz as our course guide. I like it it because it is a short book and all the chapters in it are short. I'm still learning to use the tea form and it already helps a lot. We have several people in our group who suffer from different forms of health anxiety as well as people suffering from depression, sad, ptsd and panic (which is what i'm there for). It's too early to tell if it will cure us but we are all making progress and begining to believe in cbt. I'll let you know how it turns out but it's definitely worth trying Smile

Extremely eHealthy
Sage,

aside from talkiing to your dr i'd go to a search engine (yahoo or google) & check out the side effects of both meds (not just re pregnancy but also breast feeding (assuming you want to do that) & looking after a child, also re actually being able to fall pregnant while on them & chances of side effects on foetus if you don't go off them well before falling!!

I'd also check out cbt, but also natural treatments for your disorder (i don't know of any - but that's what search engines & naturopaths, homeopaths, etc are for!!).

Good luck
