Q: Thick, light brown, patchy skin between my breasts : Skin Ca
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 18th, 2007
For a while I've had this thick, light brown, patchy skin between my breasts, very similar to caked on dead-skin in feel. I'm light skinned with blue eyes and I've never cared to spend much time in the sun. Before it never bothered me, but recently if I scratch at all (even lightly at an itch) or touch it too much, it becomes very, very sore. It doesn't turn red. I've told my mother about it, but she doesn't seem to take much interest.

It really frightens me and I was wondering... Do you know what it could be? I'm scared to assume the worst- cancer, seeing as my uncle died from it (stomach), as well as my grandfather (skin).

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

It is very hard to diagnose a “sore, thick, light brown, patchy skin between your breasts” without seeing the area. Pain on applying pressure indicates that you might be experiencing some type of localized skin infection such as furunculus. You can contact your primary health provider about this for a visual examination and follow up options.
By the way, if I was you I would be more concerned about the overweight than some bump on the skin.
