Can birth control pills trigger migraines ? worsen anxiety ? Posted: 06-16-07 08:05am
I am currently considering taking the
birth control pill. I am concerned
because of my history of anxiety attacks,
which are currently undercontol and
migraines which have been worse lately (I
have had an aura with them not every time
though). I have 5 children and do not
plan on any more but I can not afford to
feel sick. I have been experiencing Pms
stronger after my last pregnancy. Thanks
for the help.

Generally, it's not recommended that a
woman take birth control pills if she
suffers from other conditions such as
migraine or anxiety. Women who take birth
control pills may experience a worsening
of symptoms for these condition because
birth control pills are known as migraine
triggers. There are other methods you
might consider for contraception if you
suffer from migraines, including
intra-uterine devices or systems, and
barrier methods. Before taking any further
steps you can consult your gynecologist.
