Hi

question:
my wife and I had intercourse and she was late taking her oral contraceptive by about 3 hours. Although brief and I "withdrew" we decided to take the morning after pill as a precaution ( about 8 hours later ). The pharmacist told her to abandon the oral contraceptive and simply restart when her period arrives. My question is what kind of effects, if any, will this have on her cycle. She is expecting her period in 2 weeks.

Thanks

I have no idea why the pharmacist told her to do that. Going off the protection of her pills seems like a bad idea.

Secondly, there was no need to take plan b. A pill is not considered "late" until it is more than 6 hours past the normal time. Your wife was still protected, and not compromised in any way. Plus you didn't even ejaculate in her.

I have no clue how this will affect her cycle, especially if she goes off the pill for the time being and just waits. Her period may start in a day, it may take 3 weeks instead of 2.

However, if she does go off the pill, you two will need to take extra precautions when having sex to make sure it is safe sex, so she doesn't get pregnant... just because she took plan b to prevent pregnancy and had a pharmacist tell her to go off her birth control.
