Q: HIV Symptoms

I've never used any needles, gotten tattoos, or anything like that. I engaged in intimate kissing with a girl who I believe is still a virgin, however recently ive been having many of the symptoms of HIV. To start I have lost weight but I believe that may be due to smoking as nicotine is an appetite suppressant. Just around two weeks ago the lymph nodes in my neck got swollen and it made swallowing extremely painful. This swelling also came along with a fever and dizziness. I went to the doctor and got a blood test, throat culture test, and urinalysis test. They all came back normal, however I believe the blood test was only checked for mononucleosis. The swelling has gone down and my fever is gone. I guess it doesn't sound quite so bad but I am still very anxious about this, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have also been getting the night sweats. Should I get tested or should I give it more time?

ive now noticed that the nodes in my armpit and groin also feel swollen. Im losing sleep over this. I realize that in my case the chances are low, its the fact that im experiencing all of these symptoms its just scaring the living hell out of me. im worried about getting tested for fear of it being positive. oh man...

After a couple hours sleep I have relaxed and realized that I am excessively overreacting. I forgot to mention the doctor said something about me having a low white cell count, and thats it.

The only way to know if you have HIV is to test for it. Your symptoms could mean anything, so you cannot make assumptions based on them. What you described are symptoms of infection, so it could be any type of infection. You can ask your doctor for an HIV test or you can go to a clinic. However, if you have not done anything more than kissing, have not had any tattoos, or done any needle drugs, then your chances of having HIV are extremely low.
