Q: Erection Problems, Only 23 Years Old..

New User, Becoming EHEALTHy
Lately I have been having some performance issues. I have been with my girlfriend for almost 3 years now and up until recently, we never had any problems when it came to sex, I could perform with no problem. Recently, I have come under a lot of stress due to my new job, and I think I am also getting depressed as well. I've had a negative attitude for a while now and I feel like I have a lot of anxiety as well. Lately whenever my girlfriend and I try to have sex, I get hard, but I can't stay hard unless I am inside right away, I tend to go soft before entering and I am easily distracted by noises around me. I have also been masturbating a lot lately, for some reason I can stay hard during masturbation. I also haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately either and I am always tired. Is this normal for a 23 year old?

Should I be considering viagra or are these just psychological issues I need to work out? Has anyone else experienced problems at such a young age? Any comments or advice would be appreciated. I hope this passes soon as it is causing frustration in the relationship as one can easily imagine. Thanks.

It doesn't sound like a physical problem. It sounds like it's in your head. You said you're becoming distracted... well it sounds to me like sex is getting boring. spice things up!

Wait, so you're telling me that stress and anxiety, and depression that I have has nothing to do with me not being able to perform? Its not that the sex is boring, its just I have so much going on in my head in terms of stress and anxiety, that I can't concentrate.

No, it does not sound like you should be considering viagra yet. What you are going through is very common. It is usually psychological issues that need to be worked out. Make sure you keep communicating with your partner. You can also try therapy, if you haven't already, to help you through it.

Yeah, I am actually going to start some therapy next week. I think it will help me work things out.

That's great. I hope it does help you. Let us know how it goes. Naturally, you probably won't see results right away, but that's all part of the process.

Stress, anxiety and depression are all mental conditions. They can have physical effects, but they start as mental conditions. i think you'll do fine in therapy.
