getting sick with hiatus hernia
this is a reply to dinkidi.

I too have a hiatus hernia and was getting sick all the time, after nearly everything i ate. this continued for 3 months until i had xrays, barium tests repeated and it showed that i was so constipated (as a result from protium) that i couldnt digest any food. i got 2 colonic hydrotherapy sessions done and i started on alot of stuff from the herbal shop and it really helped me. hope this helps

hiatus hernia
I too have a hiatus hernia.I am fed up with my doctors as they don't seem to be that interested in my symptoms.I have said for many years that my stomach is some how connected to my heart problems.Ridiculous I know but I have just read a letter from a woman who has identical problems I do.Heart arrythmias.Sometimes missing beats, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. All tests have been fine.I get pain from my stomach which goes up my neck and into my throat, especially when walking, and mainly when I havn't eaten. Not angina as test have proven.I get a severe ache to the right of my breastbone, and usual reflux. All that I have been offered is gaviscon, which sometimes helps. My Dr even seems reluctant to give me repeat prescriptions for this.I get reluctant to go to my Dr.

hiatus hernia
Today I just got the results of my barium meal after years of practically living on gaveston. Two years ago i had what was suspected to be a broken rib from a fairground ride the pain was unbearable at the time. I havent had any pain in my rib except when i bend down it felt as if it was 'locking' then 2 weeks ago a lump has come up under my right rib and its been really painful. Is this going to be the case all the time seeing as im on gastric tabs plus motilium plus gaviscon as the hernia has caused what is called aggressive acid reflux. I have been told surgery is out of the question unless the hernia is life threatening so i guess is this a lifetime of pain or does it flair up now and again and wil i have to spend the rest of my life avoiding lifting etc

Hiatus Hernia and back pain, are they linked?
My doctor suspects that I have a Hiatus Hernia. Blood was checked for everything "checkable" and all came back neg.
I am now waiting for a scan to be done on the upper abdomen, if that is negative then I am having an endoscopy.

I have been in pain for 9 days and am really getting weary. I just cannot handle the pain which is in my lumbar area of my back and mainly across the epigastric region and inder the left ribs.

I do not get acid reflux but apparently that is not a must. If only I could get some relief from the ache.
Aparently back poblems can also be referred to the upper abdominal area so that would be the last thing to be checked. In the meantime I guess I just have to grin and bear it as everything I have taken only gives very short relief. Loved your posts, they are so helpful.

Haetus Hernia back and chest pains
Hi everyone, I had a major heart attack 3 years ago (I was using extreme force at the time digging a trench for the runner beans) at first I thought I had pulled a muscle near my right shoulder blade. I had 2 stents put in to my heart arteries the following day. Since then I have suffered pains in chest and back especially after dinner, also anxiety attacks, missed heart beats and definitely too much pain. I was diagnose with a sliding haetus hernia using a barium meal. Some times I eat the dinner in two halves. I have been on lansaprazole 40 mg for a long time. NOW because of the pain levels I am on Buprenorphine 10 microgram per hour patches which last a week, and reduce the level of pain. If pain too great then I also take tramadol, and have movelat gel pain killer massaged around the middle of my back. What next?

Hiatus Hernia
Hi Everyone again.
My latest medication change has reduced my back pain.
I now have 40mg Omeprazole every 12 hours.
And 20 minutes before eating I take 10mg Domperidone.
The back pain is much reduced, even painless times after eating.
Of course I made a mistake earlier, I eat two small chocolate biscuits at 11pm without the tablet.
I am still suffering uncomfortable level of back pain 2 hours later - I will think twice before eating in future.

Hiatus hernia
Hi Everyone
When i was a baby I had a Pyloric stenosis oporation. I have had problems around that area on and off through my life (40 now)... I was told I had a hiatus hernia a couple of years ago after an endoscopy... think I have had it since the operation. (been on pp pills for last 5 years which help with the acid but not the pain) (avoid , coffee, choc, tomatoes, fried food, and hight sugar and alchohol - I have a real prob with the last one !!) It has got worse over the last few weeks... tight feeling under the sternum , waking up in the night like going to have heart attack , wind (both ends !!) middle back pain etc... Before for I go under the knife I will try the Chriropractor route... apparently it can help... anyone else tried it ???
Ian
