Q: Meal Plans For Eating Disorder Patients

I have an ED and I would like to know if anyone knows of where I can find a meal plan? Not a diet. Obviously that is not what I need. I just need someone to tell me what to buy at the store and what to eat and when. I am so scared of so many foods that it's hard. My only safe foods are veggies. But even then I don't know what I should balance it with. I would be very thankful for any help or suggestions anyone is willing to offer. Except, please don't suggest that I sit down and make my own list and meal plan. I have tried that. It just did not work for me.

Hi. Welcome to the forum,

The best to get a good meal plan is through a nutritionist...

Yes, I agree...find a registered dietician, preferably one experienced in working with ED patients. I called around and found a group of dieticians willing to take me on a sliding scale payment plan for appointments (they did a lot of work with ED patients), so it was very affordable. I didn't have insurance, and I just paid what I could afford per appointment, sometimes $20, sometimes $10, sometimes nothing. It was a great deal of help for me.

Are you in therapy too? Because you really should look into that as well. Cognitive behavior therapy helped me a great deal with breaking compulsive exercise and eating foods not on my safe list.

ya i think proffessional is the way to go, we arent experienced at all with the nutritional aspect of things, u need to break away from the safe food list and include meats and nuts and grains in your diet as well. They all have nutrients your body needs, you dont need anything fancy just cook a piece of chicken, eat it plain as it is. You need to look at the food pyramid and the serving suggestions and try and incorporate most of those in what you eat daily to get the right amount of nutrients but a nutritionist can help you figure out wich foods are best and have the best nutrients in them as well.

You were very lucky Sad I can't have that here.. I went to a therapist, a psychologist, last May 31st and she refused to help me. She was the only one that I could rely on, because I was a free but safe service for our university students.
But that you mentioned is a great deal, maybe swimmin in a fish bowl could do that!
How were your therapy sessions?

Kisses

Wow :(
Nicnevin.... are you okay?
Do you feel you have a problem?
Are you sure you do not have any sort of eating disorder(Anorexia Nervosa?)
This does not sound normal what you are oding at all.
I hope you share this information with someone who is more professional, like a dietitian(or counselor).
I hope you get better! Are you underweight at all?

Let us know how you are doing now. It's very hard to cope with that, but you can do it; just take the example of other people who also thought they couldn't get out of this vicious cycle, but somehow managed to accomplish it.
Feel free to ask for help more often, please.
