Birth control pills will not protect against past sex acts. Right now, to prevent pregnancy due to the recent unprotected sex, you will have to take plan b or another morning-after pill.

By day 10 of your cycle, you could very well have ovulated. The pill takes a week before it is effective to protect you against pregnancy. Before that time, you should act as if you are not even on it, use condoms, the morning after pill if you need to.
