"Should marijuana become a legal medical option?"

Do you think that patients should be allowed access to THC as a pain reliever? Many believe that marijuana can help ease the symptoms of painful and/or chronic conditions or treatment such as AIDS, Alzheimer's, Arthritis, Asthma / Breathing Disorders, Chemotherapy, Crohn's, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Epilepsy / Seizures, Glaucoma, Hepatitis C, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Spasms, Pain, Analgesia, Psychological Conditions, and Tourette's Syndrome.

Others claim that marijuana is a gateway drug that will lead to abuse of narcotics and want to see the substance criminalized. The opponents of the medical use of marijuana state that the risks of medical marijuana include drug addiction, cancer, brain damage, decreased reproductive ability, and possible death.

Medical Marijuana Debate
I personally have no problem with people getting relief with marijuana. If you compare tobacco or marijuana on which is the deadliest I think tobacco would win hands down. So I believe to each his own and if it helps someone find relief from pain there should be no reason that marijuana is not made available.
As far as addictive wouldn't you consider tobacco addicting as well? Who really has the right to draw the line on what would be considered drug abusive when millions of smokers (cigarette) are having difficulty quitting. So what is more addictive? I believe it should be up to any individual to decide what they wish to use.

I have not problem with people using marijuana for medical purposes. I have been using it for IBS for about 8 months now. I have tried everything to help alleviate my symptoms. Medicine, diet. But nothing helps like smoking marijuana. I don't use it at any other time. As other sufferers of IBS know, it can be debilitating. It wakes me up at night out of a sound sleep. And there are times that I just can't get out of bed. As well as not wanting to be around people for fear of being in pain and very uncomfortable. So, smoking a little pot helps with my pain. I really wish it would be legalized solely for medical sue.

medical marijuana debate
i think that there is a lot of confusion about medical marijuana due to a lot of people who are just smoking it without seeing a physcian for a check up and haveing it recommended with a prescription and just obtaining it blackmarket, but they are smoking it the same as a recreational user would, and telling people that is "medical"not to say that they are not using it due to feeling ill, it still isn't medical marijuana unless you get it prescribed by a doctor

i smoke marijuana a couple times a week, for stress relief and for my IBs (haha but mostly just to get toasted and make music)

it can be quite habit forming, however it is in NO WAY a gateway drug.

It's a plant: a natural herb that is relatively harmless. I'm happy smoking, makes me feel good.. and I'm a loyal marijuana user. Never once touched another drug, been offered LCD and Cocaine. Those drugs creep me out. I'd feel dirty and "low" using them. They probably feel great, but they are 'drug' drugs.

marijuana is a drug but.. not really. it can become a bad habbit.. but its hardly dangerous and it's positive effects out weigh the bad.
