"Should marijuana become a legal medical option?"

Do you think that patients should be allowed access to THC as a pain reliever? Many believe that marijuana can help ease the symptoms of painful and/or chronic conditions or treatment such as AIDS, Alzheimer's, Arthritis, Asthma / Breathing Disorders, Chemotherapy, Crohn's, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Epilepsy / Seizures, Glaucoma, Hepatitis C, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Spasms, Pain, Analgesia, Psychological Conditions, and Tourette's Syndrome.

Others claim that marijuana is a gateway drug that will lead to abuse of narcotics and want to see the substance criminalized. The opponents of the medical use of marijuana state that the risks of medical marijuana include drug addiction, cancer, brain damage, decreased reproductive ability, and possible death.

i have always been one who is extremely against the smoking of marijuana for many reasons.
i have known many great people brought down by over using this drug.
people who only use it once everywhile seem to have no side effects, but those people are few and far between.
there are other pain killers out there, and marijuana is illegal for many reasons.
marijuana just like alcohol effects mobility and judgement. not including the physical risks which most people know, it changes your personality
you become much more zoned out and care far less about activities you use to. also while numbing pain your gaining weight which can increase your chances of heart disease and diabetes.
i think these are all good enough reasons to not allow the medical use of marijuana

I suffer from Fibromyalgia and IBS. I agree with legalizing marijuana for pain.

I have never used any illegal drugs in my life, but until you deal with a chronic illness you really never understand.

I agree with Lisa68 wholeheartedly. I too was against all forms of illegal drugs. That was until I was diagnosed with IBS, and all meds do not help much if at all. And changes in diet don't do a thing.
As Lisa68 said... until you have to deal with a chronic illness you will never understand.

Yes you are both right. without marijuana i'd be in constant pain from IBS and cronic arthritis. I hadn't smoked it since I was a teenager until i became so ill, the drugs the docs gave me were far worse. I even ended up in hospital due to side effects of anti-inflamertorys. It's criminal that the state makes people like us, that only want improve our quality of life, the criminals!

The Facts?
Marijuana is one of the oldest natural herbs known to human beings. It is also one of the safest, as it is impossible to consume enough to produce a toxic effect in the body. "Nearly all medicines have toxic, potentially lethal effects. But marijuana is not such a substance. There is no record in the extensive medical literature describing a proven, documented cannabis-induced fatality...Simply stated, researchers have been unable to give animals enough marijuana to induce death...In practical terms, marijuana cannot induce a lethal response as a result of drug-related toxicity...In strict medical terms marijuana is far safer than many foods we commonly consume...Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man."

I do not like illegal drugs, however, if taken properly in small amouts will help, then it is fine with me.
I know I have chroinic illnesses and multiple one, between the stomach problems, suspected ibs, ulcer, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorder, headaches and my other health problems, I sure could use something to make me feel better, because I always feel like c**p and sometimes it is so bad I swear I have trains runni ng over me (Like I feel now). I f medical marijuana will make me feel better, i'd try it.
Hopefully it would help with stress related illnesses too.

LEGALIZE IT!!
How can someone say that marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol? Just because it's legal doesn't mean that it's "better" or "more safe".
And what about prescription drugs? More people end up addicted to prescription drugs, which, again, are "legal", but are for some reason "less dangerous" than marijuana. It's not even possible for one to become addicted to marijuana, and there has never been a case of overdose, or death.
More people die from drunk drivers than marijuana. Get your facts straight!
LEGALIZE IT!!

Legalize It!
The fact of the matter is that Marijuana generates too much money for all the wrong people. Growers, dealers, DEA, Police, Prisons...the criminalization of this substance has and will continue to make money and pump it back into a vicious cycle of fear, tickets, courts, sentences, and more fear.

This is all a shame... a big scam. Of course, there are some short and long term side effects to this substance (as with just about everything), but there are a great many advantages to its use like lower blood pressure, better sleep, alleviation of pain, and increased quality of life (which is what medicine is all about... not just treatment and cures)... If we were to discuss the legalization of "opium" there would be a public outcry by conservative and, in my opinion, uptight citizens. What they don't know is that most painkillers, like oxycodone, purcaset, vicodin, codine, etc., are actually opioids... that's right, opium based. These are HIGHLY addictive narcotics. Then, of course, there is Alcohol and Tobacco... perhaps two of the most addictive substances on Earth, which are sold en masse in very accessible places... advertisements galore.

So what's the big deal with Marijuana? It's not as if we're dealing with Methamphetamines or Heroine (legally used for medicinal purposes)... it's the money. it's the cycle. it's fear. it's conservative and evangelical tight asses who want to control every aspect of social freedom a la taliban because it produces more money which allows the ruling classes to continue their domination through fear and imprisonment and fear and hellfire.

Quit smoking cigarettes, quit drinking alcohol... true vices... a little herbs never hurt anyone. It's all these folks who don't know pain and who've never smoked that want to control other peoples' choices. F*** That!

I believe it should be legalized for medical purposes. Now with that said...there would be some people who would fake an illness just to get it legally (so-to-speak).

MJ is all natural...as other medication can cause major issues...especially anti-inflammatory drugs which can eat away at your stomach...just a downward spiral.

As far as becoming addictive...that can happen with just about anything...from food to drugs...so saying no because it may become addictive is silly.

These people that say no should spend one day in our pain and I'm sure that no would soon become a yes.

Pot
Yes I agree that pot is okay to a certain extent, but if you don't know who is growing it...how do you know whats in it? Just like the food that we eat, tobacco we smoke, it is covered in pesticides. Until all of you stoners can say that you are 100% sure that your dope is 100% organic, you might as well be smoking concentrated pesticide sticks. There is no argument. The growers want to make sure that they get the most out of each and every plant. Think about it.
