"Should marijuana become a legal medical option?"

Do you think that patients should be allowed access to THC as a pain reliever? Many believe that marijuana can help ease the symptoms of painful and/or chronic conditions or treatment such as AIDS, Alzheimer's, Arthritis, Asthma / Breathing Disorders, Chemotherapy, Crohn's, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Epilepsy / Seizures, Glaucoma, Hepatitis C, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Spasms, Pain, Analgesia, Psychological Conditions, and Tourette's Syndrome.

Others claim that marijuana is a gateway drug that will lead to abuse of narcotics and want to see the substance criminalized. The opponents of the medical use of marijuana state that the risks of medical marijuana include drug addiction, cancer, brain damage, decreased reproductive ability, and possible death.

Medical Marijuana Debate
Are we talking about proven statements, or about different opinions?

If there is proof that it eases the symptoms of different diseases, especially painful
ones, I tend to lean to agreement with making it a legal medical option.

Personally I feel if marijuana is used to ease medical symptoms it would not
be a gateway to other drugs.

If it is taken just for the purpose of achieving a "high", yes, then it would lead to more dangerous drugs. People, that take this to get high, will be looking for higher
highs.

People, who take this for easing pain, would be satisfied if it does the job. Besides, they would be taking it under Doctor's supervision. (I hope).

I'm not a health professional, and have no experience with marijuana. So, this is just my opinion.

BTW I just joined, and this is my first reply. I'm looking forward discussing things here.

I agree, and I have tons of experience with pot. I do believe that MJ can be a humane means for dealing with pain, but I also have experience with addiction. I just think that people need to be given the chance to make their own choices. I don't believe that governments know what's best.

i think MJ is good but not for medical reasons..
might sound hypocritical, but even thou` i experienced very bad bones pain, i still wouldn't use MJ for it...

maybe its good for brain related issues, but for arthritis, its pointless in my view. the bones will still hurt like hell even when ur trippin on MJ or any other drug, for that matter.. to actually help, u should take a real pain drug, like morphine or such.

my 2 cents
i am a firm believer that marijuana is one of gods natural medicines... thats not just because i use marijuana as a way to calm me down during stressfull times...

but i have a patient with ms and she says that nothing helps with her muscle pain then marijuana... not to mention we "medically" give kids speed to make them sit their butts down..

there is no records of wich indicate that marijuana is harmfull, except yes it may cause some lung damage and yes its quite expensive, other than that whats wrong with marijuana?

i mean ciggarettes and liquor is legal, we have kids and adults taking medications that can shut down a whole system, whats a little pot going to do?

Arthiritis and Marijuana
Marijuana is not prescribed to patients with arthiritis just to relieve pain. Studies show that using marijuana can lessen morning stiffness and reduce inflamation. People that have arthiritis take medication and by using marijuana it also lessens the chance of the person getting ulcers from all the other meds they take.
