So if any of you guys have read my other posts, i am pretty concerned...and have lots of questions.

I had unprotected sex 3 days ago, took the emergency contraceptive Plan-B....but took it wrong. i didnt take it in the morning after unprotected sex. i took it later that night around 7:30. do you think taking it at night vs. in the morning would make a difference in its effectiveness??

so to my understanding, Plan B comes with 2 pills...the first one you take asap. the second one you take 12 hours later. i took the second pill more than 12 hours later. i took it like...14 hours later..i have gotten feedback on this before, but it seems to be from the same people. does anybody out there know anything about the failure rate of plan B or any morning after pill? especially if taken incorrectly?? i appreciate everyones feedback, but does anyone persoanlly know anybody who took emergency contraceptive and it did not work??

EVEN though it is called the morning after pill, you can use it up to 5 days after unprotected sex.

It is most effective within 3 days after sex.. You had 3 days to use it where it is MOST effective.

You can take both pills at once if you want to.. I work at an abortion clinic, we also provide PLan B and offer birth control services.

You only took it 2 hours late, and while it may be 'okay'... IF I were you, I would get another dose to take.

Planned Parenthood sells plan B on a 'walk in' basis, and it is much cheaper than a regular pharmacy.

GET ANOTHER dose, just to be on the safe side.

ok! but im a broke college student, and planned parenthood that i know about is not even close to my house. so i cannot afford another dose of plan b...do you know the failure rate of plan b? i want to know my chances of getting pregnant. if it is low, i wont buy another dose of it. i dont mind pregnancy, but my boyfriend, whos 20, does mind because he is not financialy stable right now, and unlike my parents, his are unlikely to help out.

any word starting with s and ending with t is being edited into "stuff". It's a problem that will hopefully be fixed soon.

It may have. I don't know how long the morning after pill holds off ovulation. Get a condom girl!!! Having a baby ruins the mood a whole lot more than some latex.

A friend of mine took the morning after pill the day after she had unprotected sex and she is now the mother to a 3 year old little girl so no, it doesn't always work.

That said, anecdotal evidence is worthless really, someone's always got a story to tell Wink

Lauren... The MAP is only good for ONE SEX ACT.

Birth control is 30$, MAP is 20-40$ abortion is 400$, a baby is a whole heck of a lot more..

Condoms are cheap too...

You need to be on some type of bc if $$ is a problem, because map and abortion are way more expensive then regular pills.

Pull out is not 'effective' birth control.

sooo i am exptremely bloated and tummy aches. it doesnt say anything like that as a side effect in the plab-b booklet it came with. i get my period in 2 weeks, but idk it could mean alot of things, a side effect i dont know about for the map, would ovulation give me these cramps? oh and i am still peeing alot, but i found out i had a urinary tract infection, cuz it hurt when i pee, but it doesnt hurt anymore but i am still peeing like 6 times a day! and have gained weight, a little more even since i have been home from college! i just am curious to what is happening to my body.

i have another issue: my boyfriend is coming over tonight. he is amazing at pleasing me hehe so you know we will do it again tonight. i talked to him about how we should discontinue the pull out method and try condoms. we have used condoms before, but when we do, my boyfriend looses his erection so he ends up taking it off. whats the deal?

A lot of men have an 'issue' with wearing condoms. But trust me if you tell him he either wears one or there will be no sex. Trust me, he will come around pretty quick!

He needs to wear a condom. if he really has a problem with it, then you need to get on birth control. Until you do, you need to use a condom. Everytime. For the whole time!

im not sure if im 100% correct on this but to my understanding, the first sign of pregnancy is your missed period. and since you are having these "symptoms" but you havent missed your period yet, im going to go out on a limb here and say its all in your head. dont stress about it now because the stress can cause your period to be late when it is supposed to come. but until your period is for sure late. i wouldnt worry.

I used the morning after pill once because the condom broke. I took it the next day in the afternoon and my sister was the one that gave it to me because I asked her for her help. She told me to take BOTH pills at the same time... I was hesitant at doing that because the directions said take one and then the other later, but I did what she told me to do and I am not a mother. I haven't really known anyone that took it and it did not work, I worried for a while that it didn't work, but if you are wondering just take a pregnancy test or just wait and if your period is late, then go to the doctor and find out.

Each time.

Plan B isn't a regular birth control and its not a free pass for the rest of the month.

Have you looked into a more reliable form of birth control? Condoms, pills, or whatever?

Hmmm...
I know this is an old thread but oh well lol, I am a pharmacy tech student and we just covered the topic of Plan B. This comes straight out of a pharmacists mouth.. The first dose should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex (or if the condom broke ect)the second dose should be taken 12 hours after the first dose. 89% chance of preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours but works best if taken within the first 24 hours. Plan B WILL NOT WORK if already pregnant and will not affect and existing pregnancy.
