Hi i feel a bit bad posting on here as i know theres people with far worse probs than mine but im getting really stressed out as a result of my hair mainly my fringe breaking and thinning out and the whole of my hair becoming even dryer than usual. i think its as a result of hair strighteners which i havent used for over a month now but the prob doesnt seem to be getting any better which is causing me lots of stress and making me feel paranoid about the way i look and not wanting to see anyone socially.

I was wondering if anyone here has had a similiar prob and if anyone has every had the glued hair extensions? only the hair dresser did say when my hairs a bit stronger she could put a few temporary ones in to cover the damage for about 3 months and i was confident in what she told but but was wondering what effect they could have on my hair.
I was going to go see my dr to cheak theres nothing else that could be contributing to this but feel like they may feel im wasting their time.

im trying to hold my worries back about it but i just feel so embarrassed about it as i look stupid although im told i dont i feel very paranoid about it
and its having a direct effect on me.

i have really dry braking hair too. i notice mine is better depending on what water i wash it in, so maybe make sure you are not washign your hair in "hard water" and not using heat on it. asking a doctor wouldn't hurt - that's what they're there for.

Breaking hair is nothing to go to the doctor about... especially if it's healthy at the "roots". The thing is, once your hair is out of the follicle, it's dead. It won't heal. Different things can damage your hair... mechanical (brushing, etc), environmental (sun), chemical (hair dye etc), thermal (your flat iron.)
These various things break different bonds in your hair and damage your cuticle, the protective layer of the hair, which makes your hair more vulnerable to further damage, causing trichoptilosis and monilethrix and overall brittle, damaged hair.

Once your hair is damaged to the point of breaking, the only way to fix it is to cut it off. Use a thermal protectant before flat ironing, and you can use a high quality keratin conditioner... joico k-pak has a good rep. Also, using a moisturizer can help the hair feel softer and lessen the signs of damage... biosilk and paul mitchell's "super skinny" are slippery type products that will make your hair smoother, you can also use leave-in moisturizers with botanical oils and such.
