Yas & Yasmin
My obgyn prescribed Yaz to help with the harsh cramping I had with my periods. I had serious depression, which I never had before after taking it for 4 months. I didn't want to get out of bed, and I was useless at work and as a mother. There are weeks and events that I don't even remember. I told my OB and they said it was not Yaz, and just stick to it and they started me on a series of anti-depressants. I had gained 25 lbs, had no sex drive, and was exausted all the time. I took them for 2 years. Finally my husband had enough and made me stop taking Yaz and the anti depressants. I am totally fine now, no depression, lots of energy, but I can't get back all the time I lost with my young children and even potential lost income. I will deal with harsh cramping. I would not recommend Yaz to anyone.

lung clots
i was short of breathe and didnt know why, after two attempts at dr. , finally got a ct scan, found blood clots in each lung. prior to this, i had no health issues, but all of a sudden found myself not even being able to climb the stairs to my bedroom. i have had weight gain also. this drug really needs to be taken off the market. now i have to inject blood thinners into my stomach and take coumadin for at least 6 months. if there is any class action law suit, i am all for it. this has really interupted my life with my husband and two little boys. im just afraid someone else will have these symptoms and not be so lucky.

YAZ is HORRIBLE
YAZ is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I had been suffering from irregular periods for a while, and my new doctor told me to take YAZ to help relieve my symptoms, and even improve my skin. I hadn't heard much about it, but he had over 20 years of experience, so I figured I could trust him. I took my first pill Sunday, Feb. 22 of 09, and everything was fine. I took the SECOND pill Monday, and by 11:30, I was having difficulty breathing, and my heart was pounding. I ended up falling asleep, and when I woke up at about 2:30 AM, my legs were completely swollen, and I had a severe case of the shakes. My heart was pounding, and I was rushed to the E.R.

The doctors told me I was the 5th person this week to come in with a YAZ related complication like that. They ordered me to stop taking YAZ immediately. YAZ is horrible, and almost cost me my life!! I do not smoke, am physically fit, and am 22 years old. DO NOT TAKE YAZ. It put me in the hospital after only two pills.

That is exactly what I am terrified of. I have to go back to the hospital to run some tests to make sure it hasn't started anything that can't be reversed, or will lead to other problems, but I"m really scared here. This doctor has over 20 years of experience, and he prescribed me something that almost cost me my life. I was being monitored for hours because I couldn't breathe, or move, or anything. YAZ is absolutely horrible, and it seems to me like it only works for about 25% of people who are told to take it. Not good odds if you ask me. I agree this BC should be taken off the market, before someone else get's seriously ill, or worse, dies from complications.

I lost so much blood on Yaz I almost had to have a blood transfusion. I had to have bloodwork done each month to monitor my levels which slowly crept back up after stopping Yaz. I was suicidal the whole time I was taking it, and I never had any problems with mental health in the past. I urge anyone considering taking Yaz to seek an alternative. Also, after I stopped taking Yaz I had SEVERE muscle cramps for 2 weeks which would wake me from a dead sleep. I've never experienced anything like that.

When I spoke with a nurse at Bayer Pharmaceuticals (called the toll free number Bayer provides), she acted like this was no big deal (read: didn't care) and told me Yaz is not for everyone.

Yaz Side Effects
Has anyone had issues with face puffiness? The area around my eyes is always puffy and I get these strange bumps that looks like pimples, but aren't. I have also had some small dark spots appears around my eyes. I am just wondering if this could be caused by Yaz.

To s9421, when I was taking tetracycline I developed some small bumps on my face (a rash of sorts) and my doctor took me off of it and told me I was mildly allergic to it. You may want to google Yaz allergies.

yaz
I recently started taking Yaz the last week of November, 2008. By the first week of December, I had a blood clot in my foot. By the middle of January I had bilateral Pulmonary Embolism and was in the hospital for a week. I just went back to work part time after being off for 6 weeks. If there is a lawsuit, I would like to know about it. I have been in perfect health before this.

Wow!
Thanks to all that have posted here. I am 40 years old, in good health, with a normal BMI. I was prescribed YAZ about a month 1/2 ago and I spotted for most of the month. Then my sex drive decreased with great vaginal dryness. I am now depressed but not to the extent I have read here. I am going off of YAZ this minute. I can see that I am progressing the way most of you have. I do not want to end up with a PE. You all may have saved my life. Thanks.

yaz caused blood clots
I just attended the funeral of a 30 year old friend who died from a blood clot. Walked in to her babies room and dropped dead. Her husband found her and tried CPR. Nothing worked. She was gone. She was totally healthy. Autopsy report given to the family is that her death was caused by a blood clot to the lungs caused by this birth control. This sweet girl left a 9 month old, a 4 year old, and a grieving husband. No warning, no idea. Do you really think a BC pill is worth that risk? Ask those 2 children who have no mother... This stuff is dangerous and needs to be yanked!!!

Yaz caused mental instability
My daughter just started taking YAZ on Monday. She started experiencing insomnia after the first day. She also stated she was so bloated she looked like she was pregnant. I spoke with her on the phone 3 days after she started the medication and she was so angry about a co-worker and was saying some very vicious things that were so out of character. The next morning I received a call from her stating she had been rushed to the hospital. She could not tell me what happened to her and she was so disoriented. As the day went on she continued to stay in contact with me and eventually became more clear headed. She said she called someone that morning because she did not feel right. When her friend came she just lost it and started crying uncontrolaby. The hospital ran blood tests for drugs and alcohol which came back clean. The hospital transferred her to a mental health facility because they didn't know what was going on with her. I went on the internet and looked up Yaz because that was the only thing that had changed in her life. I read all of the horror stories. She pushed the doctors at the mental health facilty about YAZ and they believe that is what has caused these problems. She only took the medication for 4 days. This is a horrible drug and should be removed from the market.

Dr. reccomended this for my daughter who is 15 yrs. 10 mos.
My beautiful 15 yr. 10 month old daughter has been beseiged with problems after enduring 3 steroid injections for lower back pain last summer (2008). Her periods became irregular-first they came every 2 weeks, then in Oct., then in Dec. The gynocologist drew her blood 4 different times from Nov-Feb and said her testosterone levels were elevated, she could possibly have Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Horrible headaches started last summer as well. She's also experiencing alot of hair thinning on the top of her scalp which is very stressful to her. Doctor wants to put her on Yaz to regulate her periods and lower testosterone levels. After everything I've read here, I feel I would be crazy to do so. Anyone 15-16 yrs old been on it?

yaz for allergies
my ob gyn had prescribed yaz to counter some odd, unknown allergic reaction i had developed, which caused facial swelling and seemed to be hormonally related. i also suffered from severe cramps, so was hoping to treat that as well.

after taking yaz for two months, i finally had to stop. not only did i spot nearly constantly during that time, i gained five pounds almost overnight - like a tire around my middle.

i am 41 and and lead a very active life. i don't smoke, work out at least an hour every day, and eat a very healthy diet. there is no reason for the weight gain, and after being off of yaz for about 3 weeks, i've gained yet another two pounds.

my severe cramps were lessened, but i had a huge decrease in sex drive, increased discharge, lethargy, a lack of interest in even wanting to leave the house. because i only took yaz for 2 months i don't know if it helped with my allergies, but after the research i have now done, i am not willing to take the chance. yaz seems a little too experimental for me.

YAZ
I am 40, active, non-smoker. I have been on YAZ more about 8 months. I feel great. No problems except low sex drive (had this before I went on the pill)and more cellulite on my legs and bottom. If you read the info packet on ANY pill, the problems mentioned above are always listed. Isn't YAZ different than Yasmin? It seems that the combo of hormones works with some and not others. Why is this one pill causing so many serious issues? Or do all pills have this potential?
I am thinking I should go off even though I feel good (no more PMS symtoms and no more break-through bleeding).

Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome
Hi,

I've been diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries and have been experiencing symptoms for years. There are days where I can't get out of bed. The answer was Yaz since PCOS individuals experience horrible cramps and other body reactions like PMDD. I haven't started the pills yet and just read these posts. I am nervous and wonder if there are any other individuals with PMDD and PCSO who have used Yaz.

Excellent
My name is Aleshia, I am 19 years old. I see there are a lot of bad experiences with Yaz, but I have positive news! I have been on Yaz for about 3 years with NO bad side effects. Spotting when I get stressed is common and a bit of weight gain, but nothing medically serious. I highly recommend it for reduction of cramps, acne and heavy periods. I love it~

Don't take this
I am 28 yrs old. I am a mother of 3 beautiful boys 8, 5 , and 4. I had been on Velivet since my youngest was born. I was having some irritations with it. So, my doctor and I thought we should try something new. I started on Yaz on February 22, 2009. It was great I lost 4 pounds and felt great. Then 1 week into my second pack it all started. I felt dizzy, and passed out on the floor. 2 days later after exercising for 35 minutes, I could not get a good breath and it hurt from my back to my neck. The next day I was admitted in the ER with multiple pulminary embolisms in my right lung. I was there for 8 days. I am now told I can no longer take any form of BC, and will be on coumadin for at least 6 months. My biggest fear is dying in front of my kids.
