I need some input please :)
I just turned 24 years old and was recently prescribed Yaz as my new birth control. I've heard nothing but great things about it from friends who are also on it. I've been taking it for one month and one week. I am definitely NOT a normally emotional person but I have been feeling weepy, depressed, easily angered and upset over every little thing, it seems.

I have talked to my brother's girlfriend, she said she needed to get off of it due to the same problems. Also, it hasn't cleared up my acne. I've been under an insane amount of stress due to my new job so I know that has something to do with it but what gives???

I need to talk to my doctor but I would love some inut as to when these side effects should lessen or go away...if at all. Please help!
Thank you!

YAZ-side effects
I have been on YAZ for eight months and I have severe side effects. The first couple of months were fine but month three was when all hell broke loose. I have been the same weight for 5 years. In 8 months I gained 22 lbs. Also, I went from a 34C to a 36D. Also, me sex drive is virtually nonexistent. I have vaginal dryness and my breasts are VERY sore which make sex almost impossible. At one point I was doing breast exams daily because I was sure that I would find a lump because of the constant soreness! I have been on BC pills for over 15 years and have NEVER had such severe side effects. Also, I now have headaches that I have never had before. Upon doing research, I realize that I am not crazy and that the side effects that I am feeling are real. Please be smart and DO NOT use this pill. There are many other pills that do not have these side effects. I am switching back to Ortho TryCyclen.

Yaz
I started Yaz in July to help with PPMD and as a contraceptive as I was recently married in September. I would not give Yaz a good rating, and would NOT recommend it to anyone. I read reviews before using, and decided I would give it a try myself. Well, I regret my decison. For those of you deciding right now, choose another method! Far too many side effects, far too many health risks. There are many more natural options to prevent pregnancy and reduce menstrual pain. Ladies, take my advice...run don't walk away from this drug!!!

yaz
I agree with the other women. Yaz hasn't been terrible for me,but my breast have never hurt so much in my life. They have also gotten swollen, but not a ton. I'm a D, so I don't need bigger breast. I have thinking about switching from Yaz because it makes me nervous to have sore breast all of the time. My husband isn't so fond of it either.

need opinion...help...any advice
I am 29 years old and my internal medicine doctor put me on YAZ 1 month ago. I was on trivora for years but I wanted to try something different secondary to my decreased sex drive. I also have a history of migraines, however, it has gotten better the older I have gotten. I have been reading these horror stories and I am concerned. Does anyone know of a birth control pill that has helped increased their sex drive or tried anything else? Thanks for any help. All my blood work came back fine.

blood clots
I have been reading everyones blogs, but I dont know if my blood clots are due to yazmin or my prolong sitting at work. I have experience the headaches an nausea, but that is after I have missed a dosage. I would watch myself closer, but I pray this is not from this pill because it has reduced my mood swings.

Are you talking about real blood clots? As in deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism? If so, get as far away from any birth control or hormones as possible. I almost doubt that you have real blood clotting problems or your healthcare provider would be guilty of gross negligence to keep you on Yasmin.

I was on yaz for 6 month, then i started to feel pain in may left leg, started not being able to keep food down . that got where i could not even breath . when i went to see may doctor he told that have blood clots in my leg and my lungs and would have die that weekend if i did not go to the doctor that day. I was in the hospital for two week, with a oxygen tube in my nose all because I HAD BAD CRAMPS!!!! That makes no sense to think at the age of 22 i almost die from a pill they put out on the market. thanks to that B/C pill i have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life, and see three different doctors for the problems it has caused me. protest this pill not just for us but others like us, so that no one else can almost die..... protest

I am 23 years old and 3 years ago i began taking Yasmin. Almost exactly one year later I developed a DVT the entire length of my right leg. I was bed ridden for nearly two weeks and wasn't able to walk without crutches or sit without propping my leg up for at least six months after the initial blood clot. I was diagnosed with a genetic blood clotting disorder called Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia but all of my doctors acknowledged that the DVT was triggered by Yasmin. I was extremely lucky in the sense that being so young my body was better able to dissolve the DVT although it will never be completely dissolved. I have to wear a full leg compression sock if I ever do any vigorous physical activity or my leg will get very swollen and uncomfortable. One year of Yasmin is going to affect my daily activities for the rest of my life. I would be very happy and supportive if there was some sort of legal action taken against the maker of this medication.

With any medications, there are some people whose body will react differently than the majority. That's why medications list the POSSIBLE side effects and adverse reactions! Any time you put a chemical into your body, you are taking a risk! I am a registered nurse with a BSN and have seen a WIDE variety of weird things happen to people from taking medications that are considered "safe". Everyone and their physical make-up is different. When you take a medication, you should always read pharmacy warnings, package inserts, and research online...then you make an informed decision. If 1% of people experience blood clots, are you willing to bet you are the 99% who won't? That being said, I have been on Yaz for two years and love it. I have friends and co-workers that feel better because of it. Our risk percentages were the same as everyone elses. I knew there were risks as with any foreign object being placed into my body. I just happened to have been on the side of the majority. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing how a specific person will react to a medication until they take it--but you have a choice to take that chance or not.

I recently had blood clots in my leg (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms (PE) and doctors have said one of the contributing risk factors was being on birth control. I am a 40 yr old, non-smoker who was in excellent health, normal weight/BMI and walked about 1-4 hours a day 7 days a week. Please read the risk warnings before starting on any hormone based form of birth control. When they say it may lead to blood clots they weren’t joking. Honestly, I am lucky to be alive today. Don’t let the same thing happen to you. But talk to the experts…the doctors. If you’re not satisfied with his/her responses, then see another doctor. I’ve since joined a PE support group and found it interesting that nearly all of the woman who cited BC as a contributing factor were on YAZ.

I didn't think it could happen to me either
Agreed; I didn't think it could happen to me either...but it did. Not only that but it happens more often than you think and to women who are much younger than I (one girl had 3 PE's and she was only 19). You hear so many commercials on TV and it seems like every form or medicine/pills have adverse effects. So each person needs to decide if she's willing to take that risk. Hindsight, I shouldn't have been on the pill.

Yaz
I took Yaz for 2 months, but it made me feel like I was on speed. I typically sleep 9-10 hours/night and couldn't sleep more than 6 on Yaz. The good news is that I was significantly more productive and not lethargic at all. Unfortunately it also made me feel jittery and mean(per my husband). All cleared up when I went off Yaz.

YAZ...BAD.
I have been on YAZ for about 1 year now and I have noticed several bad side effects. About 2 days before my period, I develop a SEVERE headache that increases in pain when exposed to light and sound. Therefore, I am bed ridden for the whole day, and unable to work. Which is 1 sick day a month that I HAVE to use.

I have also gained about 10 lbs over the past year and have remained active and eaten healthy.

I have a decreased sex drive and extreme mood swings.

If I miss 1 pill, or try to skip the placebo week (as I did on the week of my wedding)...I bleed for a full month...so much for the honeymoon!

I have been on birth control since I was 15 years old for medical reasons, and never had a problem until my doctor moved me onto YAZ to help clear up some skin problems (which it has actually done)

I will be switching to a new kind when my appt comes around in February.

Me too
I just googled Yaz side effects for the first time and was relieved, yet sad to find so many other people went through the same Yaz nightmare that I did. At first, it was awesome, I lost a whole lot of weight and felt good. But after a while I developed awful hives, I developed a fibroid that grew so large it had to be removed. I can't even tell you the trauma that one year of Yaz put me through. Ladies, please stay away from this drug. This pill is not worth it.

side effects
Well I'm 22 years old and have been taking yaz for 2 years almost 3 up until 12/08. I've never experienced any problems up until this dec. I've noticed I have headaches that wont go away, and it seems to be worse with heat. I don't smoke, and I have felt numbness once or twice. I just got off the pill because the headaches were becoming worse. One day Ipassed out luckily my boyfriend knew to get me in cold water. I think this class act would be great wouldn't want more people to die. Please contact me would gladly be apart of it

new and different side effects
I am currently in my 4th month of YAZ. Hoping that the promises of Yaz would curb my cramping and body aches was too much to wish for. Now my breasts hurt when ANYTHING touches them, not sure when I will get my period...just keeps going then stops randomly. Aches and pains I did not have before, did not attribute them to Yaz right away. I am done! Please contact me.

YAZ and Blood Clots
I too have had mutiple bilateral large pulmonary embolisms and a right pulmonary infarction (collapsed lung) due to YAZ. I was put on YAZ in Oct. of 2007. I was 35 years old, healthy and had been on other types of BCP with no problems. In June of 2008, I started experiencing chest discomfort and tightness (no leg pain associated with mine), which I attributed to stress. I finally went in to the dr. a couple of weeks later only to be rushed to the ICU and in the hospital for a week. I was told I was lucky to be alive.

My pulmonologist has done quite extensive blood work to rule out anything hereditary and it's all come back negative, which only leaves YAZ. This pill has changed my life and it's hard to believe it's still on the market after all the other postings on various boards I've read.

Any drug has inherent risks, please please make sure you are comfortable with the possible side effects before taking this drug.

Apopa - I think I saw a posting of yours on a different site - shoot me a note.
