Yaz Side Effects
I too have had trouble after taking Yaz. I am 42, healthy, non smoker. I had my gallbladder removed this past Oct. due to gallstones and inflammation. Each month during the sugar pill week I would have especially bad headaches, usually on the left side, probably migraines which I've never had before. I also noticed puffiness in my face. I stopped Yaz two months ago and have not one headache since. I have been diagnosed with a thyroid nodule since then. I am wondering if Yaz has had anything to do with the thyroid too. I will definitely end my use of all bcp!

If you have headaches, try to go on a low-dose birth control pill, like ortho tri-cyclen lo. You MUST take those pills on time every day, or you risk spotting.

Yaz/Yasmin
If anyone researched this, as I have, you would find that there are many birth control pills with similar or higher risks of blood clots than Yaz or Yasmin. These products, however, have never been attacked by the attorneys- yes this is who is feeding this frenzy. All birth control pills increase a womans risk of blood clots by about 5 fold. This is further increased by age and smoking. Women with inherited blood disorders (Factor 5 Leiden mutation is most common)have a higher risk than other women. An unhappy woman is more likely to poast than a happy one. There are TONS of women who love Yaz & Yasmin and who have no blood clots. This is why they require prescriptions and counselling from your physician. Make educated decisions ladies- not listening to lawyers looking to make more money. Physicians try to help people, but attorneys try to pad their wallets!

You were warned about those side effects!
I don't know what the deal is with Yaz, but I DO KNOW they (the manufacturing companies of these birth control pills) give you a whole list of side effects and the dangers of taking birth control pills. You know that Yaz birth control sheet? Try reading it. They warned you about the blood clots, and that's with any birth control pill. They will cause blood clots and they may cause cancer. Best thing to do is to stop taking them. No good can come from YOU regulating your body with hormones. That's your body's job.

I'm actually not some activist against birth control pills. I myself just stopped taking Loestrin 24 about a week ago. I starting thinking that it just wasn't worth me getting cancer over or blood clots and dying. My guy can suck it up and wear a condom.

My daughter is 21yrs. non-smoker and non-drinker. We have decided to give YAZ a chance and monitor her health and any sign effects for 1 month. We'll keep your post on any changes.

I'm a 25 yr old female in good health who was put on Yaz 6 months ago to help treat PMDD. I did have the symptoms (sudden headaches, blurred vision, severe sudden cramping in arms & legs, etc.) & was expecting them to go away after the first few months. They never did, & they've actually gotten worse. As for weight gain...no, I haven't gained any weight but I'm finding it almost impossible to lose any while taking the pill.
Also, I know a 32 yr old woman (who is also on Yaz) has been having severe gallbladder trouble, & she recently found out that she has to have her gallbladder removed very soon due to the damage that has been caused. Don't get me wrong, Yaz is very efficient at treating PMDD. HOWEVER, I don't think it's worth suffering through the symptoms or being put more at risk for other serious problems.

Be careful of long term use...

Like a lot of people posting, I thought Yaz was amazing. I've been on it for 3 years and I thought I had no side effects. My skin was great, not moody, light periods... BUT I started to develop serious stomach and digestive issues last year that just got worse and worse. A few months ago I also started to get headaches and pain under my ribs. Turns out that at 23 and otherwise in perfect health I had to have my gallbladder removed because of one of the active ingredients in yaz/ yasmin. I went to a number of doctors trying to work out what was wrong with my stomach, I never thought to connect it to the Yaz but it is accepted now that yaz causes gall stones and gallbladder disease - do an internet search and check out how many law suits are going on about that at the moment. Just be careful with these pills and dont discount any symptoms.

Heart Health?
I have been on Yaz since Feb/March. My PMS has gone away and I have like no cramps until the day I get my period. I have gain weight though and I also can feel my heart pluse VERY rapidly when I'm not doing any type of activity. I also on Friday got a serve heart burn in my chest and I had to lay down to make it go away. I've never had this serve heart burn before.

Yaz side effects
I was on Yaz for 4 months and I was having very bad stomach/IBS issues and anxiety. The only thing that had changed in my life during that time, was taking Yaz. The Drs recommended that I stop Yaz. I've been off of it now for 3 months and I'm still not better. I have improved a ton (I'd say 80%) but I still have trouble eating certain foods, still have nausea, still have some IBS issues, and some mild anxiety. I just don't feel like myself. Now I've started having headaches every day. The Dr is still trying to figure out what's wrong with me, but now I think it's still just the Yaz. We thought it might be my gallbladder, but so far those tests have come back fine. I believe this is all a direct result of taking Yaz for 4 months! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Well, i have been on yaz for about a little over a year now and i think it is the most wonderful pill i have been on. it is the only pill that i have been able to lose weight on. it also makes my monthly bloat, pms and period cramps non existent. it is the only pill that i have been on that has controlled my period. i was on seasonale for 2 years and it packed about 50 pounds on me.now that is a bad pill! don't take yasmin, it has a higher dose of hormones, which can cause chest tightness, but yaz is wonderful!

Well, also these women could have hepatitis and not know it. Ask your doctor to test you for liver disease, which is hepatitis, before taking this pill. They even say that on the commercial.

Great results... so far
I've been on yaz for about 2.5 years with Amazing results. I was previously on Ortho-tricyclene and the Low version for 7 years and was 30 lbs more than i am now. I attribute it almost entirely to the birth control. (i do have to note that i gained slightly in the first 3 months or so before I started loosing weight.

Also, my skin cleared right up after switching to Yaz(although in the last year or so i started having minor issues again). My only complaints have been that i felt a little moodier the first year of taking it (generally an all out balling session once a month at that time)and my sex drive is slightly lower.

I am scared to get off of a bcp altogether because i have a slight hormone imbalance and my skin is terrible without it, but i am also nervous to switch to another pill for the weight gain. I am, however, seriously considering options because all of this stroke and gallbladder business is REALLY scaring me.

Say no to Yaz!
I was on Yaz for 6 months and it was horrible. While I adjusted to the pill just fine after being on the pill for 4.5 months I started experiencing horrible mood swings, semi-depression, no patience, a high level of anxiety, loss of appetite, weight loss, gastroenterology issues, temper, feeling like I had no control, sleeping problems, over-heating, chills, etc. I've been off the pill for 3 months now and am just now starting to feel back to my normal self which is a happy, upbeat, motivated person. That pill completely changed my personality and caused my boyfriend and I to break up...the pill is the enemy, stay away if you don't want to be a crazy person!

Good Experience
I just wanted to say that I've been on Yaz for a year and 2 months now, and it has been great for me. I am 21 years old. The only downside I've seen is that I need a good cry during the monthly visit. But because I am an emotional person this just works out because I can get it all out once a month. Other than that, it has helped with my acne on my face and back. Everything has cleared up since I've used Yaz. Obviously because of the serious side effects, it is not for everyone. If certain people are skeptical about the serious side effects there are always other safe, not as risky alternatives. Hopefully this helps out.

I've been on Yaz for about a year and a half now. I've been on a dozen other BCP's over the past 6 years due to my irregular cycles and PCOS. My doctor prescribed this to me because my previous BC wasn't available at the military pharmacy. The only major side effect I experienced from day 1 is daily nausea. I didn't really think it was a MAJOR issue so I continued to take it, although it has hindered me in my daily routine.

However, 3 weeks ago, I also started getting excruciating headaches that will not go away, and have had them every day since. After doing some researching, it seems that this is a common side effect of Yaz. I'm now 99% sure that it's the BC causing these headaches. I have had other symptoms that I did not used to have before taking it, but it's hard to tell if they are related to Yaz or because I'm 21 and still "maturing", so I will not list them. I will be returning to my doctor next week to switch BCP's.

Yaz works great for me!
I love Yaz! I am a 27 yer old mom and nonsmoker. I took it for several months last year and only experienced positive side affects. I lost about 15 lbs in the first few months and stayed thin after going off the pill. My skin went from troubled to perfect. And I only had 2-3 day periods each month. The only negatives were that it made my skin drier than usual and my sex drive went down a little. The weird thing for me is that it made me feel pregnant. I felt exactly the same way as I did when I was a few months pregnant. So much in fact that I had to take a pregnancy test once just to put my mind at ease. But I loved it. I am going back on it this week.

I am 52 and my doctor put me on Yaz because I was having early waking and not being able to get back to sleep, which is apparently a symptom of menopause. I missed some pills the first month and had the worst bleeding and cramps I can ever remember having. I definitely feel my sexual desire is WAY down from what it was before I started. I'm on my second month and I have been taking it every day at the same time yet I have started spotting and cramping. Thankfully it's not as bad as it was last month. I'm ready to quit Yaz but don't want to do it in the middle of the month because I don't want to have those horrible cramps and bleeding again.
