Q: Pregnancy Questions...

My fiancee and i are trying to get pregnant, but being that we are both women it makes it pretty hard. We found a sperm donor in a close friend of ours and on June 7 i had sex with him to try to conceive. My period isn't due until June 19th and i just have some questions that maybe someone can answer. How long will it take to know if i successfully conceived or not? And how will i know? I've never been pregnant before and i am a little unsure of what to look for. I don't want to set myself up for a disappointment if i'm not and i definetly don't want to upset my fiancee.

just wait and see if you miss your period.

edited to add if your period does end up being late than take a test

from those dates it seems like you may have *just* missed your fertile time. you ovulate 14 days before your period, which would've been the 5th. most people trying to conceive have sex every other day starting at day 10 of their cycle up to day 16 (based on a normal 28 day cycle). each month you have a 25% chance of conceiving and a healthy couple could take up to a year to get pregnant.

maybe you should look around the 'getting pregnant' forum. they can tell you what ovulation signs to look for and give you some other tips.

good luck!
