I'm on this pretzel kick, it's like I can't eat enough of them. I've had lots and lots of gas since I started eating them and I noticed on the nutrient list they are loaded with fiber. I even have gas when I have a bowel movement. Is this normal when you have a large daily fiber intake??

The nutrient intake says there are 8 servings per bag of pretzels and 5% of the daily fiber per servings, sometimes I eat at a bag and a half of pretzels a day!! Usually at least one bag. But hey, they're not fattening, they do have a bit much sodium so I'm making sure I get plenty of water.

Any answers??

Thanks!!

Arn't prezel fried? Though they say that pretzel conains lots of fibre, being fried, it can cause gas. Sometimes, one of the ingredients, like the oil used, spices etc. can also cause stomach gas.

Fibre can make you gassy. Everyone says its great, but there are two types, soluble and insoluble. Insoluble is probably the one in the pretzels since it is causing you some gas..its just part of it. It is the reason that beans also produce the same effect, because of the fibre content. It could also be because of the fact that they might be fried.
