Do you feel you want to strive to look like anyone in particular? Could be someone you know, an actress/actor, singer, model, etc.

Doesn't have anything to do with their personalities, its mostly about their body and appearance.

Ok for me its Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears (now shes lost weight again), and Sophia Bush.

I always buy the magazines with them inside and on the front cover, and watch them on tv shows all the time. I watch Mischa Barton in the tv show called 'The OC'. Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton in the tv show 'The Simple Life'. Sophia Bush in the tv show 'One Tree Hill' and I bought her movies. Britney Spears I have her dancing & singing dvds.

They look so pretty and skinny, wear the best clothes, have loads of money, have good careers, are famous, get boyfriends easily, its like they are shown to have the best lives, and I feel I have to strive to look like them if nothing else. Then In my head I feel I will be happier like they must be, and can do more things I want to do in life.

Typing this made me feel so dumb but whatever, its how I feel and I cant help that. Anyone else?

Well, you don't have to feel dumb for writing this, because many of us also feel this way, ok? It's the way it is, it is a reality. If you get the chance, take a look at something funnier: http://lolcats2.com/heytheresexy.html Very Happy
Then, think of "not so skinny people" who you like. And get us a list as well. Smile

its okay to admit this... its not dumb, its courageous that you can voice your opinion!

you may look at these girls and look in awe at their "glamourous" lives. realise that this is not reality, nor are they how they are portrayed. have you been reading the mags lately?
nicole richie - eating disorder, rehab for drugs.
linsey lohan - alcoholic
paris hilton - convicted criminal, currently on suicide watch
britney sprears - separated from husband
sophia bush - i dont know her!
mischa barton - apparently addicted to crack.

glamorous?
err... no.

when you think about your life, you, your world.... do you want to remember who had the most fun, who worked the hardest, who inspired you the most, the memories with you and your friends, your favourite parent... or do you want to remember how skinny you were?
oh yeah - i was skinny.
but thats all. when you have an ed you might be skinny as caca [although you will probably doubt this] but thats all you have. you dont have friends, an identity, enjoyment, fun, love, relationships. you are so consumed by your eating disorder everything in your life disappears.

please remember this nexxt time you are thinking of staying home instead of going out for dinner because you dont want to face questions about what you are not eating.

please. take care.
x

You're right, breeanna. But you know.. It's so hard to avoid these thoughts and feelings. It seems that they are always coming in our way. I know you know what's like and how hard it is. Thanks for posting all of this. Are you cured?

*hug*

yes its hard but hang in there, the better you feel the less notice you wil take of the mags and the more interest you will have in other, non-body issues and such!

ummmmmm no not cured. im not sure if there is a cure as such. but im in a day recovery program, and its helping. but i still struggle, its not like one day it just changes and you dont care about food or body or anything.
that said, there is a point you will reach [if you havent yet] where you realise that there is more of you wanting a life beyond obsession, than the part of you that clings on to it.
i call that the turning point
once you reach turning point
you can immensely improve!

are you at turning point?

I guess I've been at the turning point more than once, but then I always fall to the darker side of it... Evil or Very Mad
What's that recovery program about? Kisses

do you have msn?

its all about separating yourself from the eating disorder and learning about it as a separate entity. have you heard of such methods?

Hi.
Welcome here. Your weight is not goos now, it's way to low. You should wish for health, not for a certain size... Really.
