my son was involved in an auto accident (he was passenger) and suffered a broken hip. He is 17 and is healthy. emergancy surgery was performed on the 27th of May 07. Three titanium screws were inserted into his hip.
Yesterday he had his first appointment wuth the doctor. An x-ray was taken and the doctor told us that the hip was not healing. We go back on the 21 of july to repeat this proceedure. We were told that his injury was severe and we were looking at a long term recovery ie: 1 to 2 years min.
We also contacted a lawyer and they are handling the case. How much money is usually paid out in this instance? There were NO drugs or alchol involved.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's injury. I'd suggest to calculate the opportunity cost of the time it will take him to heal in order to know the value for a lawsuit. At this point in his life, what are his goals and his dreams? Perhaps the lawsuit can help make them a reality.
