My wife has been tested positive blood clot disorder. She has been told that once pregnant, she will have to give herself heparin shots twice daily. Anyone that has or is currently giving themselves these shots, how bad is it? she is really worried about doing them and I would like to see what some of you have to say about it.

Thanks

I haven't given myself these shots but I have given them to some of my patients at work. They are fairly easy to give. These types of injections are sub-q. which means in the fatty tissue....not the muscle. They shouldn't be very painfull. And the needle is usually the size of an insulin needle if you know what they look like or how small they are. She will be fine. You just have to be carefull not to get cut or bump yourself too hard as it can cause a much stronger bleed than usual because it is a blood thiner.

Not Too Bad
I took a similar drug by the name of lovinox(sp?) when i was released from the hospitol with blood clots. It's not bad at all all you do is pinch your stomach together then put it in the fatty part and inject. There is a very slight burn for 5 secs then nothing.
