Why must I take Laxatives before Colonoscopy ? Posted: 06-07-07 21:11pm
Recently had a colonoscopy, doctor
commented on excessive laxative use.
However, I Never take laxatives. Never
have a problem with constipation and do
not take laxatives. What else could cause
this?
Laxatives are requested before a
colonoscopy is performed because the large
intestines need to be completely clean.
Beside laxatives, a special diet is also
requested for the same reason. If the
large intestines contain stools the
colonoscopy won't be performed well.
