Have definitely read that hiv/aids virus particles are small enough to get through condoms...Especially condoms that have been exposed to extreme temperature conditions, handled roughly (even while in package), or otherwise damaged. So even if there isn't any visible break in the condom, one that looks useable might not be as protective as you would hope.
Hpv can definitely be transmitted whether or not you use a condom. But there are several different strains of hpv (genital warts), and different strains like to latch onto to different places of the body...Like inside the vagina or urethra, or on the testicles, labia, etc...
Makes one think twice about having random sex...
